Has anyone had BV or other "internal" infection whilst pregnant?

Going to see GP today as I'm pretty sure I have BV or other internal yucky infection. Its not surprising really, after all the other stuff I've had whilst pregnant. I was just wondering whether anyone else has had this? Could they safely take a swab whilst you were pregnant and what treatment was prescribed.

they can safetly take swobs whilst pg. not sure about treatment though, perhaps antibiotics which might have the side effect of thrush but that can be treated with pessaries. hope you get better soon.

hi i think i may have this too. What exactly are the symptoms, is it very different from thrush? I have a yukky smell

yes, it is BV. GP did take a swab but said she could see (and probably smell but didnt say thankfully) that it was a "nasty infection" and has given me Metronidazole, until the swab result comes back. Apparently antibiotics (I've had 4 lots in 3 weeks!) can cause BV as well as thrush. Bardot, if there is a smell then it is not just thrush, thrush is odourless and a white discharge, a smell is usually indicitive of a bacterial infection and needs treatment. Go and gt it checked out asap before it gets worse to put your mind at rest. By WHY!!! does it have to be so embarrassing going to your doctor? I still feel like a child when I go in for something "female", its ridiculous, I am pregnant and have a child!
