Besides being knackered and completely fed up with it all I woke up yesterday and soon started feeling very light headed almost like I would pass out - and this was just sitting down, my blood pressure is fine, lowish at 110/70 but healthy. Thought it might be low blood sugar, but it continued throughout the day and I am having it on and off today too - any thoughts?

could be to do with iron levels, do they get checked reg?

as the baby gets bigger, he/she can lie on your aorta (massive blood vessel running from heart to abdomen area) and this can cause shortness of breath etc. this is why they say its not a good idea to lie on your back when in later stages of pg

Dr has rung and have booked me for afternoon appt tomorrow. Nailpolish's post makes a lot of sense but will repost tomorrow if I get told anything different.

Iron is a possibility though levels were fine at last blood test - though that was weeks ago now! Also I don't tend to lie on my back, but still am now seeing my midwife tomorrow instead of wed, she called and changed the appointment so will take that as a blessing! Especially as really felt dodgy when bathing dd this evening.

Would still be interested to hear what your dr says chloe and I will do likewise

I'm 32wks pregnant but had this fairly recently. Often during the day I felt as though I had to sit down before I fell down as I was so lightheaded and felt dizzy. It was also much worse when I was tired. It turned out that my iron levels had dropped since my last blood test. I've been feeling 100% better since I started taking iron supplements.

HandbagAddiction · 31/01/2006 08:44

Definitely think it could be your iron levels as I had this quite a bit when pregnant with dd quite late on. Please mention it to your midwife and get your levels rechecked and if need be start taking supplements now.

Adass - Doc checked my BP and it is slightly raised but not to concerned level, she said this is a possible factor of the dizziness though. Have been fine today so she wasn't too worried about me and told me to take it easy and ring if any further probs. I am seeing midwife tomorrow anyway. So, not an awful lot of help I'm afraid but if you aren't feeling better I'd book a midwife appt.

Thanks for all the advice, have increased the iron intake in my diet - had been lacking a bit of protein so will amend that quick smart!

Did mention it to midwife, but she just thought that it might be BP or sugar levels, but wasn't worried though she did say it wasn't usual so as I am having (all going well) a home water birth I didn't push it (I do not want to risk being sent into hospital) so keep an eye on how I am doing - will add am feeling much better, except for the normal gripes about not being able to get comfortable!!
