"Mask of pregnancy" - pigment on face

I'm 23 weeks now, and for a good month I've noticed a slightly pigmented area on my cheeks/just under my eye (bags!). It didn't bother me and is easily covered with makeup. Then after a week in Egypt last week, I've developed the same thing on my forehead - again, a small area.

I have read about this happening in pregnancy, and it seems to be that it may or may not fade.

I wondered what other people's experiences were. Did you get it? Did it keep getting worse through pregnancy, did it grow? And did it fade afterwards?

Thanks.

I have it slightly on my face I look like I have been out in the sun but it is a little blotchy. I had it first time around too but not so prominent it faded soon after I gave birth but because it was summer I tanned anyway so that probably masked the mask if you get my meaning.

Hi, I got it during a sunny hols while pregnant. It did fade but I put very high factor sun cream on it (50+). You don't want to expose that skin to any more sun or it will get worse.

Hi I had it during both pregnancies, and in different places. During the first pregnancy I had it on my top lip so it looked like I had a moustache! Sad, and during the second around my eyes. They did eventually fade both times, but are definately worse in the summer. Make sure you wear a good sunscreen if you are anywhere near the sun or they may go darker.

It is very common apparently, and as I said in both cases mine faded so try not to worry too much!

Thanks folks. Reassuring to know it faded on you. Still worried it'll just keep getting worse until I have the baby though! Will take the advice of proper 50+ SPF. My normal day cream has 25, so when the sun actually decides to make an appearance I'll slap on the good stuff! :)
