Hi, I've just got back from my scan and I have an SUA (Single Umbilical Artery) does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks,

Yes, my ex had it when pregnant. Was totally fine in her case, nothing to worry about, did not cause any restricted growth and the pregnancy proceeded as normal, she got extra scans but it's actually a lot more common than you might think. Hope to help Smile

My little boy was born in nov 2010 had a SUA and was fine, I had extra scans and was told he would be born early, low birth weight etc etc, he was 2 days overdue and was 7lb 3oz!!
I googled everything to and scared myself silly and for no reason at all in the end!! :)

I was told it was SUA, but the sonographer actually said she'd not personally seen a problem through it. It was actually a misdiagnosis for me and dd turned out to have a normal cord (picked up on next scan) but try not to worry.

My SIL had this. All was fine and her son was born naturally in November. He's now a bouncing 3 month old.

HTH

Try not to worry.

Best of luck. xx

How strange. i was thinking about this only today as my DS had this and I posted for advice on here! He is coming up to 2 now.

LIke the others said, there may be extra scans as there is sometimes concern about growth but DS was fine.

I think sonographers only report it as an incidental finding, especially if there isn't any other issue. it was thought at one point to be some kindof marker but not now.

Don't Google - you know it doesn't help! Good luck and try not to worry.
