Hey,

Does anyone have any massage techniques they could describe for my dp to do. As quite sore today and hot water bottle not really cutting it. Or any other suggestions would be welcome.

35 + 2 today. :)x

Hey I'm 32 + 4 and my back pain in absolutely awful! Least your DP will rub ur back though lol! Mines done it once the whole pregnancy but it took a week of begging. Basically, he has to be gentle, I am experiencing a lot of upper back ache so found it helped to massage round by shoulder blades, do not massage on bone.use circular motions on muscle. Do not press on the spine, keep about one centimetre either side. With lower back ache the best thing I can suggest is just rubbing.

If its really low, get him to sit behind you on the floor and press his feet into your lower back.

You can get small pilates balls which are slightly spiky -they are great for both use by a partner, or by leaning against a wall and using on yourself, I recommend them a lot to patients. Also simple things like hot water bottle, ice packs or alternating the 2 will increase blood supply and help to decrease inflammation. If resting on yr side, always have a pillow in between yr knees. And if you have a TENS machine, use it - they're not just for labour. HTH

Try the wrap around therma heat back pain thing. Its a heat pad that you wrap around you and has charcol activated by the air. Found it was 10 times better than a hot bottle. However they are a fiver for 2 one use pads so a bit expensive but well worth it especially if you wear at night. Plus super streachy so should go round a bump. Tho I was only 12 weeks when I used one.

A tennis ball rubbed over the sore parts is really good. Massage oil makes a difference if using hands.
