I'm only 12 weeks today (whoop!) but just started to feel totally obese. Usually size 8-10 but now tight 10 in morning and blatantly a 12 by night! I feel like a TOTAL MINGER! Anyone else feeling totally gross??

Yes, but that's because I am Grin

In all seriousness though this stage of pregnancy is a bit crap figure wise. The uterus is still quite small, but as it makes it way up out of the pelvis it kind of pushes everything else out and up, so there's no proper bump just expansion. It does get better quickly though in a few weeks you'll have a proper bump and start feeling pregnant rather than fat Smile

Penny2012 · 02/03/2012 21:48

Thank you - I'm much reassured!! x

jessicalynn0317 · 02/03/2012 22:44

Haha I'm 38 weeks and my but was already big to begin with but not its seriously huge!! I had to buy new underwear!!! Don't worry your just at a crappy stage! Soon you will start showing a nice bump and you will love it!!!

Bibbo · 02/03/2012 22:47

Am 23wks and feeling huge... not just the obvious areas, but I can't believe how fat my upper arms have got! and I suddenly have a double chin! everything is expanding massively

cjbk1 · 03/03/2012 08:49

Yes penny are you my twin? same to everything, I'm actually breathless coz I feel so heavy (my bp is normal) Sad

capecath · 03/03/2012 09:59

And the bloating makes it worse at that stage too. I am similar sizes to you, now 16 weeks. Started wearing my maternity trousers because really don't like the feeling of clothes being too tight... they fit nicely with a belt and I am feeling a little more attractive :) Agree, it definitely feels better once you actually look pregnant and not that you've just put on a few!

bushymcbush · 03/03/2012 10:22

Snort.

I was a 16 when I fell pregnant. I am now 34 weeks and in
18 maternity size. I expect to balloon to a normal size 20 for a while after the birth as I did after DD1. Then eventually, gradually, I will lose it again. It will take maybe a year.

Feeling better yet OP?

LIG1979 · 03/03/2012 11:24

Yes - although now I am 17 weeks I have some days with a 'bump' and some fat days. When I was 12 weeks, I definitely looked more fat than pregnant every day.

applecrumple · 03/03/2012 12:27

Im 9 weeks & have been showing a little since week 7. Having towear baggy tops as haven't really told anyone at work yet. Also eating ALL the time! Anyone else waking up starving in the middle of the night?!

blondiep14 · 03/03/2012 12:55

Yup!
11 weeks with DC3 and feeling 'rotund'!
DS1 keeps asking for a baby (we haven't told them yet, waiting for scan) and said this morning 'when you have a baby in your tummy, you'll be even bigger' !!
DH said I have a round bump now, it's not baby tho, it's carbs!

heartmoonshadow · 03/03/2012 16:18

Hi
31+3 today and feeling like a proper fatty we are going to a party next week and I tried a dress on OMG I looked like a beached whale goodness only knows what I am going to wear. I suppose it doesn't matter as I look like the Goodyear blimp crossed with the Michelin man. What I find really strange is that the scales say I have only gained 8lbs this pregnancy so far but it all seems to be on my bump which looks like I swallowed a basketball. Roll on birth I just want it over now!

willowshimmer · 03/03/2012 17:05

Feeling like a complete moose, heffalump, weeble.......etc !!!! I am 33 weeks and feeling norman normous ! I grunt to reach my toes, my bum could have a cup of tea placed on its 'shelf', my belly is huge , my fingers and toes are big fat sausages, I have not seen my lady garden for a good month or so now ( am presuming its still there if not a little overgrown) and my face is starting to get that 'look' where everything swells !!!!!!
I was small 16 when I got pregnant have always been curvy and although I am in size 16 mat clothes still I just feel huge and uncomfortable. I have put on 1st 12lb so far
To OP at 12 weeks I felt really bloated and couldnt bear anything around my belly at all. It does pass honest .....

susiegrapevine · 03/03/2012 23:08

Yes am 15+5 and I feel fat because I look fat! Not pregnant. I just look like I have put on pounds just around my middle! Was a size 16 before pregnant so not small but have now had to start wearing my old size 18 maternity trousers to work as size 16 work trousers too small and old size 18 work trousers were digging in when I sat down but falling down when I stood up!! Needed the elastic! Lucky I kept my old maternity trousers coa I didn't need them at this point in my last pregnancy so would not have been ready! Dh just keeps saying your not fat your pregnant! Very annoying!

farmerswifey · 04/03/2012 09:07

I'm usually a size 6 so looking down and seeing a bump is quite odd to say the least. Though, for me, it's the huge boobs that are getting me down - I'm 20 weeks and already have the boobs of Dolly Parton - I just look ridiculous!

Penny2012 · 04/03/2012 10:05

Thanks everyone for your comments. I feel much better knowing it's normal to feel fat not pregnant at this stage. I can't wait to tell everyone on Friday so I can finally explain what the heck has happened to me! I might start wearing a badge saying "not fat. Just pregnant!"

Good luck and congratulations everyone else xxxxxxxxx

Good God yes, I'm expecting Greenpeace to appear on my doorstep and try to roll me back to sea at any minute. I put on 2 stone (the average weight gain for my entire pregnancy) in the first 16 weeks - I'll be 28 weeks tomorrow, and it's only in the last couple of weeks that people have started saying "Ooh, you're getting a proper bump now, you actually look pregnant!" Er... as opposed to?? Hmm

MissPollysTrolleyed · 04/03/2012 15:07

I am 10 weeks and have a big spare tyre Sad. I crave savoury food like crazy early morning and evening and sweet food through the middle of the day. I am responding generously to all the cravings - definitely quantity over quality of food too. Lots of toast and biscuits Blush.

littleredmonkey · 04/03/2012 17:01

I am 43 a found out 3 weeks ago there was a little bun in my oven. Spend 4 nights a week doing weights in the gym and eating really well except for the weekend when a chinese or large dominos pizza all to myself is great. Since finding out I have been eating everything in sight, normally dont eat carbs daily but now eating them, little biscuit here packet of crisps there. I have settled down the last few days but have started to find everytime I eat about 30 mins later and this starts from breakfast feels like I have consumed a bag of cement and it has expanded.I feel so bloated and uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Another down side is wind !! Lovely I know. I have been lucky I dont have an sickness just excessive bloating. I am 8 weeks but look weeks ahead. it is my first. Help ladies any ideas to reduce the bloat and extra bag of cement I am dragging around.

Penny2012 · 04/03/2012 21:39

Littleredmonkey I too am absolutely full of gas! Windeze gel caps are great and you can take them when pregnant. Congratulations on your news! Sounds like you're in good shape so you'll be fine! X

Feeling fat too :(

I am just so bloated! I can't believe it. No one tells you. My belly is just huge, like I haven't been to the loo in DAYS. What is happening - why is it doing that? And it hurts too, like trapped wind, except it's not.

I'm seven weeks and look about 4 months. What the hell. Fortunately not much has blown up yet but it's only a matter of time :(
