Bump drop!

I am 38 wks pg, was just sat on sofa and got searing shooting pain up 'you know where' and then bump seemed to 1/2 in size and drop right down!!!! Followed by very mild period type pains. Am I weird or is this fairly normal and just a baby shift? I was 3/5ths engaged last friday. 1 hour later bump is still low but looks a bit more 'normal' now. Pains have stopped.

May have been baby dropping further down. Ooooo how exciting!

Hmmmm, the cramps are coming and going now but they are not really painful more of a discomfort, baby is very active and almost feels like he is pushing down. Been getting BH often for past week but again, not painful. Also had lots of discharge this am, not watery or bloody though, just more than normal.

I guess I'd know if it is the start of something though, right?

OOh how exciting Chloe, is this your first?

It may be a slow start to something, or it may be baby just shifting as you say. But trust me, you will know about it when it really is time!

Good luck

Yes is my first which is why I am being all pathetic about it Like you say I am in no doubt that I will be sure when labour really starts just wondered if there were any signs to indicate it might be on the way? He keeps making little shuddery movements - very strange!

Not pathetic at all! Its so exciting isn't it. My dd is 3 now and i stil find it all amazing .

As hard as it is, try to just keep busy (alternatively sleep until baby arrives!) and not think too much about whether its it or not. I am speaking from experience as i had lots of pains at 38wks and convinced myself she'd arrive soon, but i didn't go into labour until 42 weeks . So prepare yourself for another 4 weeks and then you may get lucky!

Yes no doubt that will be the case with me too Hattie, I come from a 'well, providing you are within 45 mins of the time you said you will meet then you are on time' type of family so I can't see my baby coming early somehow!

You might not necessarily know! I wasn't sure until well in and that was with my 2nd! You can 'rumble' for ages before anything really kicks in. It is very exciting though! Ooooo how are you feeling now?

ShaysMummy · 29/01/2006 18:40

mine dropped like that then came back up again- very dissapointing!

Just been to mums for sunday lunch and still having plenty of BH, some a little painful but no more period type pains, can still feel a lot of pushing down from time to time, guess I'm just having a few niggles as a bit of a preparation for the real thing. Fingers crossed and I'll just play the waiting game.
