Did anyone NOT have OC with each pregnancy?

I'm 9 weeks with DC2 and had OC with DS.

I had planned a water birth but obviously I was induced and it hurt like feck. This time round I'm (naively?) hoping that it won't happen again but how was it for you? Did you have it every time?

Am I condemned to never have a natural(ish) labour? I want to get the twitches and think oooh, is this labour starting? instead of going to hospital on a given date, being put on a drip and having my baby being catapulted out.

I felt robbed last time...

I was induced the first time (15years ago), I then had my daughter 5years ago.
I had OC with both, but because I'd had it with DS, I was monitored and when I started to show symptoms, was given medication. I had more monitoring during the last month or two of my pregnancy, but had a natural labour, because the OC had been managed, so I didn't need an emergency induction.

So they didn't induce you? What do you mean by it was managed?

Will be watching this with interest. I had OC and had horrible induction experience. If I get it again, if baby doesn't come by itself, I'm refusing to have an induction. They'll have to do a c-section. From pessary to birth was less than 9 hours and DS was in quite a lot of danger at one point because of the speed with which it happened and I nearly had an emergency c section as a result. Dr said it would be even faster with a second induction. So I'll be skipping that, thank you.

Sorry, I've been away for a week.
Your chances of having OC in your next pregnancy is quite high- up to70% risk of recurrence during the subsequent pregnancies.

I made sure that my Midwife knew that I had OC with my last pregnancy and then she started monitoring me from about 30weeks (can't remember, but I think they did blood tests).
I can't remember exactly when they picked up the unusual liver functions, but at first they continued to monitor me and then they prescribed Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets. It kept the itching and the worst of the symptoms under control. I was monitored at the hospital from about 36 weeks, twice weekly fetal monitoring and they also gave me a scan to look at my placenta.
I went into labour naturally at 38 weeks and, other than having my waters broken, had a completely natural labour and birth. (My induced labour was 7hrs start to finish, my natural labour was 17hrs, but that was just because I couldn't move past 4 or 5cms dilated until they broke my waters)

Keep your MW informed and as long as you go into labour before your placenta starts breaking down (the Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets should prevent the placenta breaking down), then you should be able to go into labour naturally. (Obviously I'm not a health care professional, so can't promise, but that is my experience.)
