Sinusitis - HELP PLEASE!

I am 7 weeks with DC3 and so far this is my worse! EXHAUSTED is an understatement, I am nauseous all the time (never so much as a queasy tummy with the first two) and I have been hit with sinusitis!

Six days so far and no sign of it easing up. I steam regularly (at least 6 times a day) and tried the saline nose spray yesterday but it was no more effective than steaming. Steaming loosens it so I can have a really good blow that eases the pressure for a little while.

I AM MISERABLE - please help me - when will it go away - is there anything else I can do for it. Paracetamol does nothing. My face is in agony. :(

Doctors for antibiotics. I've had sinusitis for 3 weeks now and finally I have antibiotics and it doesn't hurt much now and I can breathe.

Hope you're better soon. There is nothing worse.

Hi OP,

Sorry you're feeling rotten. I second the advice about going to the Drs. I had a chest and sinus infection in January and tried to fight it off myself but it didn't work and just made me feel terrible. When I finally went to the GP, she said she prefers pg ladies to get help sooner rather than later because of our compromised immune system.

I was on penicillin for 5 days and it totally cleared things up.

Rest up and take good care of yourself, hope you feel better soon

tickle at 7 weeks you are in a lucky position to still be able to reach your feet, so.... the toes relate to the sinus areas in reflexology and honestly, it really does work. give all toes on both feet a good dig/massage/pull go down the front, sides and back of the toes, repeat as often as you can at least twice a day. It can have an instant effect and got me through my bout around 14 weeks. If you do take antibiotics as last resort after you have finished them get some probiotics to boost your system, feel better soon

You poor thing! I had sinusitis in my first pregnancy and it was totally miserable. I found the steaming that every pharmacist in town suggested did sod all very little and it was only taking antibiotics that sorted it out. Hope you're better soon Smile

With you in the sinusitus boat, it has meant I have had a headache on and off of six weeks and it's making me very miserable. Third trip to the doctors today and now have antibiotics along with sinus spray. Fingers crossed it works and the headache goes away and I can enjoy the pregnancy.

try a neti pot

Hi

I have pretty bad sinusitis it's chronic and I have to spray nasal steroids every day. I also use Sterimar which you can get from the chemist. It's just water or you can get one with copper in it to help with inflammation. You spray it up your nose and it helps move the congestion. It might help until you can get to the doctors. Not pleasant spraying it up there but it does help.

Thanks for the replies. Have tried the reflexology tip and could actually feel crackling in my sinuses whilst I prodded my toes. I think it did ease things for a while. I have seen the neti pots but just not sure I can do it.... I am a wimp! Got a Dr appointment tomorrow so we'll wait and see. Doesn't seem fair that we have to put up with so much in pregnancy. 33 weeks to go........

I've been researching sinusitis for my MIL who gets it a lot. Apparently apple cider vinegar is supposed to be great for it. It tastes not great but worth a try.
You need:
cup of warm-hot water
add 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
add 1 tbsp honey (manuka is better)
stir and drink!

It's supposed to clear the gunk out straight away so I hope it works for you. If it does please let me know. You will need to make this drink a few times a day.
Hope this helps!
:-)

I often get this even pre pregnancy an Olbas do a great bubble bath that (not to be crude) makes things flow. I always feel a thousand times better after my Olbas bath (although it does kill any chance of passion. Oh maybe I have discovered a new form of contreception. Olbus clears your nose and reduces the likelyhood of pregnancy) Wink
