Feeling scared - low progesterone levels.

8 weeks pregnant today.

Just got a call from my doctor saying that I have low progesterone. She didn't go into detail but I have to pick up a prescription today.

You are probably going to be prescribed a progesterone pessary. I was for my pregnancy and she is 16 months now. It is great that your dr checked for it.

How far gone were you when you found out? If you don't mind me asking. I am terrified.

I had had 2 miscarriages previously so my cycles were medicated and under the supervision of a dr. I would have been probably 6 weeks gone when I started on the progesterone. Many many doctors don't believe that low progesterone has any effect on the pregnancy (I beg to differ) and some people with low progesterone carry full term without any help so don't panic at this stage (easier said than done, I know). Might be worth asking if you can have an early scan, at 8 weeks they will be able to scan you.

Oh Psammead, I'm sorry you've had worrying news. But at least they've picked up on it and if they're prescribing supplements they obviously think that will help. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you. Just found out my levels are 7.3. Really quite low. My pharmacy have to order the medicine in, so I have to get it tomorrow morning. Feel a bit like it's a timebomb, you know? Bit sad. Hope this bean is a fighter.
