Heartburn and unquenchable thirst...

I am 5+1 with my 1st and along with the expected nausea, I am constantly thirsty, no matter how much or what i drink, and i am suffering from really bad heartburn almost all the time.

Does anyone have any good tips that might help quench the thirst?
Can I take normal heartburn medication when pg?

gaviscon and most over the counter remidies are fine - just check with the pharmacist if you're not sure.

drink lots (not caffeine) - the amount of fluid in your body when you're pg increases by 50% iirc so you'll spend a lot of time drinking and weeing

congratulations!

I heartily recommend ASDA own brand heartburn relief tablets. They taste like sweets (Love Hearts or Refreshers will also do the job) unlike Gaviscon which tastes bloody rank.

Keep drinking, as maxpower says, the fluid level in your body increases hugely when you're pregnant (increased blood volume, amniotic fluid etc) so drink as much as you need to :)

I share your thirst!! I'm 13+ 3 and I can't seem to ever quench the raging thirst either. I've never drank so much water and nothing seems hit the spot. Not suffering yet with heartburn but I know from past experience that Gaviscon is absolutely fine. I've been told that the nausea ends by around 14 weeks but so Far I've seen no sign of it going, I hope yours disappears soon.

Gaviscon and rennies etc are fine. I'm massively struggling with heartburn at 32+5 with twins and have been prescribed ranitidine so if it continues, there are more hard core options later on. Good luck!

Boggler I was still regularly nauseous at about 22w, and was still occasionally sick up to 30w

Yowzers, that was fast responding!

Thanks all, I will pick up some gaviscon tomorrow. In the meantime, nesquick!

Love hearts and refreshers? Never thought of those, will definitely be stocking up as I remember the constant swigging of Gaviscon stage and it is rank.
