Oh no, I just had a little fall! Hope everything is ok? What to do?

Ouch! I just slipped on a wet bathroom floor and fell down right on to my bum.

My hand and ankle took most of the fall, but a little worried naturally as the impact made baby very active for a few minutes afterwards, like she was a bit shocked by it.

Feel fine now but wondering if I need to get checked out? Would rather not spend all night on on labour ward triage waiting to get monitored if this is nothing to worry about.

Has anyone had little falls like this in pregnancy? From what I understand, baby is fairly well protected...but this is my first so not sure. What would you do? I'm 36 weeks.

I would phone the unit and ask for advice. I'm sure it will be fine but best to be on the safe side. All the best.

Just spoke to the midwife - she didn't see any cause for concern if I landed on my bum and am not injured. She just said to monitor movements through the evening and come in if reduced, or if I have any bleeding or leaking of fluid.

Along the lines of what I was thinking...Does that sound sensible?

oh my - i read that as 'fallen on bump' and it sent shivers.... but they are well protected in there aren't they so am sure you will be fine. poor you. feet up for the rest of the night.

Sounds very sensible to me. I had quite a big fall (crazy dive into a ditch - Don't ask!) at 32 weeks and landed on my side and all was well.

Keep an eye movements, but baby should be fine. They're very well snuffled in there! Good luck!

I fell at 7 months, onto my side. DS went really still for about half an hour then started wriggling like normal, I phoned the midwife unit and they said the same as yours. She was very nice, I'd got all worked up but she said that they're well protected and as long as the movements were normal and no leaking I should be fine, but to go in if I was worried. DS is nearly 7 months old now and is none the worse for wear! Smile

Yes I think so. Just make sure you rest and an pay attention to little one. I'd also call again if you start tightening or contracting!

I slipped in a bath/shower and whacked my elbow on the side of the bath trying to cushion the fall with DD1 and fell down the stairs with DD2. I was very shaken, but ok. As there was no bleeding/obvious signs of trauma i didn't seek medical attention and all was ok.

The advice you have been given sounds sensible. Rest up and take it easy Smile.

Yes, fell onto bum not bump! Now that would really have me worried...

Will try not to stress now. Might put a little ice on hand and ankle as a bit sore. Baby has wiggled a little since the fall, so will keep an eye on movements through the evening.

Panic over. Thanks for the advice!

Rest up, drink sugary tea and relax Smile Times like these you can are when man slaves lots of help are made for.

I had a fall in the shower last week, fell on my bump against the sink and everything is fine. May actually be making her more wriggly (was 38+4).

Hi my friend fell down the stairs, not too bad and fell on bum, hopsital pretty much said that same but she had to go in to have an anti D injection because of her blood type, can't remember what it called.
