I was able to express colostrum from 11w first time round (and rather oddly have still been able to ever since I stopped BF DD when she was 7w, didn't conceive DC2 until she was 14mo)

I've never actually 'leaked' though - everyone's different :)

Been happening since I was about 22 weeks. Now 28. Its both nipples. I was completely shocked. Expected it much later but hey ho. It is very annoying though.

LittleWhiteWolf · 28/02/2012 17:48

Mine starting leaking at somewhere between 23-25 weeks and carried on leaking so much that I needed breast pads. This time they only started leaking at about 32 weeks and have only just progressed to needing pads.
If you're leaking a lot perhaps wear a nursing bra to bed. I found I sometimes leaked so much during the night that I'd stick to the sheets which meant I ended up cleaning the sheets a lot and it hurt when I peeled them off the sheets.

Isn't pregnancy fun? Grin

Breast pads!

Been leaking since week 24, now 37 and making quite a lot Blush seems I was the only person at antenatal too..

Don't worry about it, it's normal and hopefully a good sign of healthy milk production Wink

Flisspaps · 28/02/2012 21:08

Leaking before birth (or not) is absolutely useless as a guide to milk production (sorry!)

susiegrapevine · 28/02/2012 22:08

Yeah defo don't worry. Mine started leaking around 16 weekd last time and I was like what the hell is that. Then I realised. I only had to wear breat pads at night cos they only seemed to leak when I brushed or pressed on my nipples. Just waiting for it to start again, am 15 weeks now lol. I had loads of milk after my 1st was born so I assumed the leaking was a sign of good milk production but maybe not.

Haha i have just been wearing my normal bras as i have incredibly small boobs that haven't grown at all :-( haha. They have just got a bit harder. Would people recommend a nursing bra? Mine are still underwired - is that a big no no?

shellywelly as long as they fit properly and the wires aren't pressing into your breast tissue then underwired bras are fine. I'm a 38e and am still wearing normal bras at 35w.

You can even get underwired nursing bras but they're £££! Grin

shellywellybaby1 · 29/02/2012 08:25

Cheers fliss!! Think i am alright for the moment then!

susiegrapevine · 29/02/2012 17:47

Yeah i think i switched when i was about 20 weeks as my boobs got bigger and the wires become uncomfortable or debenhams do some maternity bras like nursing ones but no hooks.

shellywellybaby1 · 29/02/2012 22:41

Ok thanks susie. I will keep that in mind if they start to get uncomfy. Havent had any more leakages since the other night so maybe i lay a bit funy n put a bit of pressure on. Haha dnt fancy leaking at work as i sit opposite my boss n think he would probably wet himself if i had a couple of patches on me front! Haha
