am i the only person who can't hear the term 'bless' again in my life? it's so patronizing :(

I'm confused, can you expand?

My cousin does it. She's lovely, but the expression winds me up! Not as much as referring to my future arrival as 'lush' though!

I know someone who does it deliberately to be condescending. Like if someone offers an opinion she doesn't agree with she goes "aww, bless" to imply that they're hopelessly young and naive and don't know half as much as she does. As a result of this, the word is like nails down a blackboard to me.

Is this pregnancy related, or just a general moan ?

It's very patronising. It says, "Yes, I recognise that you're babbling on about something you find cute, but I think is sentimental tosh."

I hate the 'aww bless' almost as much as 'Hun' rant over :o
