I am 37 weeks and zapped. I could sleep all day given the chance. Im taking 2 spatone sachets a day to bring up my iron levels but am completely stumped when it comes to knowing what to eat. I just don't fancy anything but I want to start making a real effort now as the thought of having to deal with labour when I feel so rubbish is terrifying me. Any good meal or snack ideas would be great.

I always found that making sure I never went more than a couple of hours without eating helped; so a mid morning and mid afternoon snack. That way the blood sugar levels never dipped low enough for me to feel like cack.

And nuts- cashews, peanuts, whatever- are great as they're high in protein and calories, but take up little effort or time to eat.

I can't eat nuts unfortunately. The eating little and often makes sense though, I can go hours without eating anything which can't help can it.

how about some small cubes of cheese and some grapes in a box you can keep handy, or a homemade fruity/dark chocolate chip flapjack - you will know what is in it, plus oats release their energy slowly.

if you are looking to up your iron levels, eat nori seaweed. the stuff they wrap sushi in. you can buy it in sheets in dried form from supermarket. so full of iron it's ridiculous. you dont need to eat much at all.

Have you had your iron levels measured by a blood test, haemoglobin & ferritin levels? You could be quite aneamic with low ferritin levels in which case Spatone is not enough. I was found to have this at the same stage & had to have an iron transfusion - unfortunately too late to make much difference for the rest of the pregnancy but hopefully it helped me feel not as worse as I could have after delivery IYSWIM.
