The best nappies for boys

Hi all

I didn't really know where to post this question and everyone here has been so helpful when I had previous questions about my pregnancy.

My little boy is 3 weeks old and i'm struggeling to find decent nappies that dont leak! I've tried pampers and huggies and would rate huggies better, however they still seem to leak wee, meaning constant vest and outfit changes.

Does anyone have any experience using own branded nappies such as tesco or the ones on kiddiecare?

Thanks

We use asda own brand for ds since he was about 2 months and have never had a problem. When we couldn't get any we tried huggies and they leaked all the time.

Also if he is at the top end of 1 size and bottom of next, it may be worth moving up a size and also check vest size, we had leaks when his vests were too small as they sent it out the side!!!

Congratulations on your ds by the way!

Thanks for your response Pootle. He's just under 7lb so he could technically fit into the next size up nappies. We'll buy a pack of the Asda ones and see how we get on. Thanks

I've found sainsburys own brand to be pretty good. Can I just check though that when you do up the nappy, everything is, shall we say, pointing down?! For the first few weeks with my ds I was changing him about 4/5 times a day as he was constantly weeing up himself until a friend told me about this.

Another vote for asda nappies.

Asda and aldi nappies are great. We found moving up to size 2 ones after a couple of weeks helped too. Midwife told us to fasten them tight, should be able to get a finger in each side. Girls are much less messy!

I found Pampers the best last time Huggies always leaked with my two boys...that was 7years ago now though...! I may try Asda in a few weeks by the sound of things :)

Lidl own brand - by far the best. Closely followed by Asda.

Asda here too. Pampers are easily the worst nappies I've ever used no matter the age.

ellangirl · 26/02/2012 14:19

Tescos worth a try too, the purple packs not the green (cheaper) ones, although you'll prob still be using newborn ones? Now my boy is over 2, strangely pampers are the best ones, but when he was little they were useless!!

Asda here too, have tried huggies/ pampers when theyve been on offer but had more leaks so now won't be swayed and only use asda now.
