Need to sit up in bed

Hi
I'm 25+6 today and for the past 2 mornings I've woken up in the wee small hours with this really uncomfortable feeling like a cross between nausea, indigestion and trapped wind. It's a really unpleasant feeling - I actually began to worry something was seriously wrong this morning as I felt so unusual. But I've found it's relived by sitting upright - after about 45-1hour the feeling starts to ease. The problem is I'm desperate to get back to sleep but can't really in this position. Anyone else had this, is it normal and anyone found a solution for being able to get back to sleep?!

Could it be heartburn? If it is then Gaviscon does the trick. I've spent quite a few nights trying to sleep upright, it's not easy!

I've been having a similar thing - I think it's a bit like needing to burp, but not wanting to because you feel like you'll be sick if you, combined with the burning sensation! I end up glugging back the gaviscon (I keep it on my bedside table now!) and sleeping sitting up for a bit. I generally wake up a bit later as I'm uncomfy and find I can then lie down again. I think the key to sleeping sitting up is having millions of pillows (much to my DH's annoyance!)

If it is heartburn, then it's very normal, so don't worry! It's just baby pressing on your stomach and squashing everything upwards...lovely!

I've been getting heartburn a bit recently. I read the Gaviscon bottle and it said only to have after meals, but mine comes on randomly in the day/night. Is it still ok to take on not a full stomach?

I find that if I have anything like a full meal in the evening, I'm too full to lie down at night, so I often prop myself up for a bit on a few pillows. Fell asleep like that last night, and woke up in exactly the same position this morning, so I must be getting used to it!

It does sound like heartburn. I get this in the middle of the night, it's like I have the taste of sick in my mouth. There is a big bottle of Gaviscon on my bedside table for 3am swigs!
Another tip is to raise the head end of your bed slightly, with a couple of hardback books under the legs. Just an extra inch or two can make a bit of difference.

Another one with Gaviscon on the bedside table here!

Joosie, I have gaviscon all day everyday. Whether I've just eaten or not.

Another vote for Gaviscon!
I also found I could sleep sitting up if I propped my pillows up and put a V pillow behind me as well as I could sort of nestle in to that so I didn't feel too uncomfy.
