ectopic pregnancy - anyone had methotrexate?

how were you physically for the week after? I'm going to have the injection on Monday and have work on Friday. I read on the EPT website, you can feel exhausted afterwards. Is it totally unrealistic to think of going in. It's with new clients, so I'll have to be on the ball, I won't be able to veg out at a desk in the corner.

Mentally/emotionally I'm not great now, but it's not as bad as the MMC, at least I'm finding out now at 6 wks, not 12 wks. I'm being daft even thinking I can go in next Friday aren't I?

First, I'm sorry you are going through this...I also had a miscarriage at 12 weeks followed by an ectopic, and it's really awful. I hope you have someone taking good care of you.

As for the methotrexate, i didn't have any side effects. In fact, I started feeling better very quickly, as the pain and symptoms went away. I was back to work the next day.

Josie so sorry to hear you've been through the same, it is so miserable. That's really good to hear you felt better straight away. I don't have any symptoms at all at the moment, so really it's just the stress and the waiting that's getting me down. The miscarriage was only 3 mths ago, and the TTC since then has been awful so I feel I'm being kicked when I'm down Sad

I didn't have strong symptoms, but had been feelin under the weather...almost like I was fighting a bug.

Mine were also 3 months apart, and I was an emotional wreck. We waited about 6 months before trying again because I just didn't think I could handle it. One thing the doctor said that really helped me was that this kind of thing is more common than you realise, and there was no reason to think there was anything wrong with me. There is no connectionbetween miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy -just bad luck. I'm now 25 weeks pregnant and everything looks great. It will probably be the same for you next time.

thanks josie, that's very comforting, both that there's no connection between the 2 and that you're pregnant now, congrats!! That's great news!!

I had methotrexate for an ectopic and I felt exhausted afterwards, I was off work for 2 weeks. But whether that was the drug or just emotions I'm not sure. I might have been able to pull it together for a day if I really needed to, but I was very glad not to have to.

I hope your experience is more like josie's. And if it adds to your comfort, I got pregnant again very quickly after my 3 months ttc ban was up and now have a one year old daughter. I'd had a miscarriage the cycle before the ectopic so I'm another who has had both. It is definitely more common than you realise.

Good luck for tomorrow.

Thanks Muser, had no idea it was so common. I think I will take plenty of time off, I'm raw with stress. I just want a boring life. I'm thoroughly fed up with the drama of it all, I've never had so much time off sick in my life. It is a big comfort to hear others get pregnant again, the scarred tube issue is a big worry to me. I never thought I'd be wishing for a plain old mc!

I didn't have metho, but I did have an ectopic - it ruptured so I was surgically managed and lost my tube.

Sorry I can't offer any advice about how you will feel after metho, but I didn't want to read and run. If it is any help, I am another good example of hope after pregnancy loss and I wanted to reassure you that the emotional pain does get better with time x
