Bump drop, how much longer to go?

I think my bump is starting to drop as I can breathe a bit easier now. I've also increased my trips to the loo, hence the early post.

In your experience, how much longer until labour? I'm 36+2, and wondering if I will have 4 more weeks (or longer to go) or is this a sign that baby could be sooner?

Is it your first? My bump dropped (finally!) on my DD with first and I went into labour that night! But most of my friends had a couple of weeks "breathing space" at least.

With number 2 I dropped at about 35 weeks and again went into labour on DD. so I think it does vary a lot.

Have you had any other signs? Smile

Yes, it is my first, no other signs, no Braxton hicks, nothing.

I'm 34 weeks and have nowhere to 'drop' to as bump has been consistently low. It's never been up high enough to drop IYSWIM.

DD was engaged at about 38w but was induced at 42+1

Hi OP,
I'm now 36+5 and my bump dropped at 33 weeks. I've had braxton hicks since 16 weeks and 2 sets of 'threatened pre term labour' in the past 2 weeks.

I spoke to the MW as I was hopeful that all the above meant my baby was gearing up for her exit but was told that in first labours the bump drop happens between 33 and 37 weeks but doesn't tend to have much effect on when the LO is born. In the same way that the head (for some ladies) starts to engage early but they can still go overdue.

Sorry Laf77 with my first my bump dropped around 36weeks but DD wasn't born until 41+6!
I'm 36+1 this time and still waiting, getting sick of being so breathless!

Aargh! I know that I can't complain about being overdue, as I am not even full term yet, but I am carrying a big baby, had a scan today and he is estimated to be 7lbs 9 oz, so probably 9lbs 9oz at 40 weeks. The thought of potentially going overdue is filling me with dread. Here I was thinking the engaging and bump dropping was a sign that I couldn't possibly go overdue!
