Positive then negative

Ok I totally messed up when my period was due and did a test what I thought was 4 days early (I know I know, and I should know better with my job) anyway it was 8 days early and faintly positive - I was stunned that it coudk pick up this early but disregarded it. Curiosity got the better of me today however, and I did a first response one and it was negative.

I have felt odd the past few days hence doing the test and have been passing a fair amount of clear mucus, lots a week ago and small bits all week.

Mega confused. has anyone ever had this?

Hi emptycrisppackets Sometimes the first response are not as good as they say, i had a very faint first response and very obvious clear blue on the same day, the clear blue was also done late afternoon.
Unfortunatly i miscarried, second time now but i had bleeding from the start which is how i knew i was pregnant again.
Maybe try a new brand in a few days.x

Was the other test a different brand? 8 days early is very early but not impossible, I would try again with first morning urine and a different brand of test

It was a clear blue test, I thought if anything it'd be negative being so early and it not a FR test. May try again tomorrow, or just wait until,next week when I'll be overdue my period (assuming it doesn't arrive)

As far as I know, false positives are extremely unlikely, but false negatives are relatively common - so based on that, it's a BFP. But really the only way is to wait and retest.

Maybe splash on a CB digital and use a "first pee of the day" sample and then you'll get a definite answer

I did another FR today as there was one left over. Definitly negative. I have no idea why the one would come up positive 8 days before AF is due.

I'll know by Tuesday for sure.

Just thought I would update.

Did my hcg levels at work day after AF was due. They came in about 3. So not pregnant.

However, still no period. So I took another test this morning. It was BFP within seconds. I'm quite confused as I thought if my hcg was that low 12/13 days ago how can i be pregnant?!

Argh.
