Pregnancy bleeding

Hi all,

I am almost 5 weeks pregnant and bleeding. I had a discharge with blood earlier and then the amount I'd have during a period (although my periods are not too heavy). No cramping or clots etc.. Am obviously worried as cannot be scanned for at least another week.

Any advice to help me chill out ?

Can you go to an EPU?
They might take your bloods over a couple of days and check hcg levels are going up as expected.
There are lots of ladies on here who have had bleeding and gone on to have healthy babies but having had an early miscarriage myself there are also those where unfortunately the bleeding is a sign something's wrong.
Hope you manage to get some reassurance over the next few days

So sorry to hear that you are now concerned which is completely understandable however it may not be bad news. Did you start to bleed at or around the time you would usually start your period? I ask because this happened to me and I had assumed it was my period though it was lighter than usual (or what is termed a chemical pregnancy) but lasted much longer. Also I did have mild period type cramping before-hand. I hadn't done a pregnancy test though and found out only the month after that I was nearly 9 weeks pregnant (now 20wks).

I don't want to give you false hope but some hope all the same

I had a mc at just over 6 weeks and know just how devistating it can be. I would go to your EPU as Haggis suggests. x

Thanks to both of you. I am a week after my period was due and although not had cramping, I have had a weird sensation in my stomach that I usually get just before my period starts.

I've seen my dr and he is arranging a scan for me but they want me to be nearer 6 weeks ! Guess I will just have to see how the next week goes and then have a scan. Not much good for my sanity but hey. Hopefully it is nothing.

I had bleeding and went for a scan. They said in the end they thought I was only 5 weeks, my dates said 6, they could still see a heartbeat. That was not long ago so I can't tell you the end result, except that everything was fine then, but they did in effect scan me pre 6 weeks and see stuff.
