Hi all,

Just wondering what you all do about getting your hair done when you're pregnant? I've got an appointment booked for when I'll be 9+4 and I usually have an all over colour. Seem to be finding conflicting advice about how safe it is particularly in 1st trimester.

Thanks!

Hey Haggis!

When i went to see my midwife at 8 weeks she told me that it was absolutely fine and that the only thing to be careful of was the colour myt take quicker than normal. I dnt usually dye my hair but had a treat yesterday and had an all over colour and its great. She said that it was a load of old tosh that it would do anything to the baby. As is the whole fake tan thing! Haha.

Hope that helps

Shell :-)

O i am 22+5 btw now!

i've been going to my hairdresser as normal and he says it's not an issue. If people are really bothered he can do a patch test just incase the scalp had become any more sensitive. But i've been bleached and toned to hell during my pregnancy and been fine

I bleached mine and dyed it pink when i was pregnant! no harm done at all :P

the advice against dying your hair whilst pregnant is outdated (think back to when they put copious amounts of chemicals in everything) x

Great news! At least I won't have to have ridiculous roots, and the odd grey showing through!

NHS seems to think it's fine!
