as my first two were girls and i carried them high meaning i felt their kicks around my belly button and above but this is my 3rd, 23 wks, and im having a boy and he kicked very very low down which i feel its on my bladder as i feel more sensitive.

just curious!

I can't see any valid scientific reason why this old wives tale could possibly be at all true. I expect in your case it is just coincidence.

CuppaTeaJanice · 22/02/2012 09:47

DS's bump was higher and narrower than DD's. Both were all out front though.

HamblesHandbag · 22/02/2012 09:48

No. It's not true.

jaffacakehips · 22/02/2012 09:49

Well for me...so not true!

I was all out the front, small neat bump, which hung very low. I didn't put on that much weight = girl. My friend also had a girl and her bump wasn't neat at all. In fact she ballooned, face, legs and bum. Everyone is different.

melliebobs · 22/02/2012 10:13

im same as jaffacakehips most of these old wives tiles have been a load of old crock for my lil baba, she has been the opposite to every one i've read!

I have a very small, neat round bump that is really low and is all to the front. From behind i don't even look pregnant. I've put on no other weight except my bump

LaTristesse · 22/02/2012 11:47

I think it depends on a Mum's individual physiology - I carried my DS all round - massive bump everywhere, grew an enormous behind, thighs, the lot. With DD she's definitely all bump at the front - a very different shape altogether, although the pgs have been identical really.

Unofficialpeacekeeper · 22/02/2012 11:49

I've carried all my girls and boys the same way.
I always looked as though I'd swallowed a basketball!

blondiep14 · 22/02/2012 12:26

I had two Mr Greedy low but huge bumps with my DS's.
Can't wait to get a bump with this one, wonder wht it'll be like. Have been MUCH sicker this time so DH convinced it's a girl. Or twins! In which case I dread to think how big I'll be!

nickelDorritt · 22/02/2012 12:29

no.
carried low all the way through.
have a DD

my sis-in-law carried low through both hers and she had one of each.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 22/02/2012 12:46

We are having a boy and I am all up front and get kicks wherever Harry feels like kicking me at that moment in time.

Fishandjam · 22/02/2012 13:02

Don't think so.

Funny anecdote: in my last pregnancy, my GP actually wrote on my notes "expected female child" based purely on the fact that my bump was round and wide rather than all out front. (No scan evidence or similar.) DS is now 2.

I should have had a tenner on it with my GP.

Harecare · 22/02/2012 13:03

No. DD1 was high, DD2 was low so I thought a boy. She hasn't got a willy!

Fishandjam · 22/02/2012 13:13

A boy without a willy? Praise the Lord, it's a miracle!

(I can't wait to do that sketch in the delivery unit this time round :) )

mildertduck · 22/02/2012 13:18

I can't see any logic for it being true. Today I am mostly being prodded in the ribs; yesterday it was very very low down...

PotteringAlong · 22/02/2012 13:26

Not true for me either. Very high bump = 1 DS!

QED · 22/02/2012 13:27

I looked the same in both pregnancies.

One DS and one DD

BikeRunSki · 22/02/2012 13:30

Not true for me. Identical high bumps, one DS, one DD.

Loonybun · 22/02/2012 13:52

Not true for me either. dd was very low down, so much so I had terrible spd from about 16 weeks! Ds has been really really high, the pain in my ribs is unbearable!!

TinkerMaloo · 22/02/2012 16:17

total myth, the way you carry is more down to abdomen size/shape than anything else
