Something is leaking.....

Apologies as I'm sure this will be a case of TMI but something is leaking and I dont know how I can check whether its wee or my waters?

It could very well just be wee as everything feels so heavy and there is a constant pressure on my bladder but I dont want to ignore if there is a chance it could be something more serious.

Everytime I go to the loo my underwear has a wet patch, only about 3cm diameter. It appears clear and there is no odour. What do you think ladies?

how far on are you? with my ds1, my waters went with a trickle (rather than a pop like ds2) I wasnt sure either. This was at 39 weeks.

I wasn't sure either when my waters broke - they didn't all go at once. I was 33 weeks at the time.

But the waters continued dribbling out even when I tried doing the pelvic floor exercise where it would have stopped if it was wee.

If the wet patch doesn't smell like wee, there's a chance it isn't.
If your waters have broken, and you don't go into labour soon, there's a chance of infection to the baby as it's no longer floating in a sterile bubble. Whether the midwives / doctors would want to induce labour, or would give you antibiotics & wait would depend on how far along you are and how high they consider the risk of infection is.

So I'd ring the midwife & get checked out - they should be able to confirm it either way.

This happened to me - leak onto a pad and sniff it, amniotic fluid has a neutral, slightly sweet smell, wee smells like wee.
My waters had broken, I was full term but didn't go into labour spontaneously.
V important to get it checked if there is any possibility it is amniotic fluid due to risk of infection.

If the leak does not smell, go to A&E or labour ward (depending on how many weeks you are). I had this around 17 weeks and it was taken extremely seriously. Fortunately all was ok and I am now 31 weeks...

Another good way to test is to lie down for a while, if when you stand you trickle more then its a good indication that your hind waters may be gone, these seem to be the ones that start with a trickle.

That's how mine went with my last baby, also look at the shape of your bump (if your close to term) has it dropped? Is there a dip in between your breastbone? I was surprised that I hadn't noticed it until DH pointed it out!

Do get checked out though, as other posters have said there is a risk of infection. Good luck x

You don't say how far you are but I am 29 weeks and have had this for atleast 3 weeks now. I raised it at my appointment with my midwife yesterday who said very watery discharge with no smell/colour is common and that if it was waters breaking i would know because of the distinctive smell.

Mine started trickling just before 37 weeks. Had a hospital appointment and was told I'd probably just wet myself. I bloody hadn't. Three days later the midwife checked on me and said that yes my waters were indeed trickling. Never smelt, just clear liquid. Ended up being induced due to risk of infection.

I asked my midwife same thing today - knickers seem constantly wet. She said I'd definitely fill a sanitary pad if it was waters. She said it is prob increased discharge or (glamorous) just being sweaty....

I also read the tip on lying down for 30mins as waters would 'pool' and then if you get up, they'll gush out.
