So I FINALLY get my notes at 24 weeks and midwife checks details and says 'So you're due on 5th June according to scan?'.

I say, 'nope. Scan is silly and that would have meant having sex 5 days after I conceived!'

To which she replied 'when are you due then?'

I said '9th'

AND THEN SHE CHANGED MY NOTES TO THE 9TH!!!!!!

My midwife wouldn't change my date and apparently DS1 was 2 weeks early. But he wasn't. Hmm

NoMoreMarbles · 20/02/2012 12:07

a MW who listened? Shock with DD i had 3 scans that conflicted for the DD and when i said one of the scans fitted with my (very regular) LMP they ignored me and put the latest one downHmm DD was Od anyway so not that it mattered really but it peed me off at the time. i just assumed i would have my baby around the end dec/beg jan and she was born 8th janSmile

just as an aside how would you be due later if you conceived earlier? typo i assume?

no i don't get the problem either?

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2012 12:11

I would have been well chuffed. I would have left work 2 weeks earlier if the MW had believed me. Sad

melliebobs · 20/02/2012 12:53

and the issue is???????????????????????

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2012 12:57

The OP is saying she is very happy that her midwife changed the dates as quite a lot of midwives will only go by the scan and won't believe you if you say you know when you conceived. Hence people being induced when they probably don't need to etc.

StarlightDicKenzie · 20/02/2012 12:57

No, I AM chuffed. Restores my faith in midwifes after a very poor experience first time around.

If the scan date was right, it would have meant that I conceived before I had sex which was 1)impossible and b)when my DH wasn't in the country! Grin

Ok so 4 days difference on a due date but you have two weeks room to pop either side of that?

She should know you have an itinerary for sex?

I don't understaaaaaaaand!

Honeydragon · 20/02/2012 12:59

X-Post oooooooh now I get it

Kellamity · 20/02/2012 13:00

I think the OP is saying she has a midwife that listens which, I am sure many would agree is a rarity Wink

StarlightDicKenzie · 20/02/2012 13:01

She should know that many women have more understanding of their bodies than machines, and that being listened to is important to most women, and she did.

And I'm surprised and happy because the first time round it was VERY different and I was an object on a robotic conveyorbelt with unthinking midwives.

Ahhhh - that makes things clear now, Starlight! I know I am pretty hard-of-thinking at the moment, due to a head full of snot - but you really had me confused!! Blush

Glad to hear that you have got a good midwife. And congratulations on the pregnancy too.

I had this with my last pregnancy. My Obs kept saying "No, you'll be later than that, trust me" when I told her that she was 5 days later than me and that her due date was impossible due to Dh and I being in separate houses that day

DS was born on her due date. She just winked and said "told ya" Grin

Suze77 · 20/02/2012 14:09

Yeah, you have to mentally add an "How cool is that???" to the end of the OP to get it! :D

SamJ2012 · 20/02/2012 15:57

I conceived via IUI so I 100% know the date and have hospital paperwork to show it but they are still going by the scan date. We'll see if it makes a difference later on...

StarlightDicKenzie · 20/02/2012 16:50

Sadly though I'm moving out of the area.......... (although actually moving out of the are is not sad I assure you).

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2012 16:50

Will your new midwife in the new area put it back again? Shock

StarlightDicKenzie · 20/02/2012 16:52

Hmm, - the thing is that currently the new area is refusing to accept me due to being full - so who knows where I'll end up and with what.

Just thanking my blimin stars that I finally have my notes........

'Full' Sad Is the the GP surgery or the Midwives?

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2012 16:58

'that' even.

StarlightDicKenzie · 20/02/2012 17:00

The two nearest hospitals to where I am going to be living.

Haven't even figured out the GP thing as will wait for an actual address first.

I doubt this is a problem of the magnitude it appears. When I get there I'll kick arse Grin
