Me and my partner are thinking about trying for a second baby at the end of this year we currently have a 15month old boy and whilst pregnant with him I had hyperemesis, I was sick up to 40 times a day and was un able to keep down any hardly food or liquid during my 1st 4 months. At 4 months took some pills from the DR to help with the sickness, I was reluctant to take them because of the stigma that surrounds the anti- sickness pills during pregnancy however it got to a point where I had two decisions and the other solution was not having my baby. The pills seemed to help (however I am not sure if it was the pills or reaching 21 weeks ) but I was still sick for the rest of my pregnancy but I managed to control it to some extend eating very regularly and resting (A LOT) and for the rest of the pregnancy I felt very tired lifeless ,weak and ill .
For the 1st 4 month I was bead bound I lost a 1 1/2 stone in 2 weeks and had a bucket at the side of the bed as I was so weak it was hard to make it to the loo every time I was sick . by the time I got back into bed I would need to rush back to the bathroom again there was also a risk of passing out on the way.
After I took a week of pills from the DR I was able to get up but had to carry nappy bags everywhere I went , pulling over in the car on the hard shoulder to be sick and could not go near garlic or onions or strong smelling foods without needing to hurl. In my third trimester i was feeling slightly better it was still an underlying problem but I had it under control but obviously my life was so affected . not being able to go certain places, I couldn?t work and after I was able to eat again I had to eat almost every hour and it was only stodgy carbs that would help the sick feeling subside so I ended up putting back on a lot of weight.
understandably I am now terrified to do it again. we would really love another baby but I am not sure if I can do it again can I / should I put my body through it and how can I possibly do this and look after my little boy.
It seems like such a long time and I am worried about his development as it is nearly a year of his life I was ill for .
The first time I didn?t nowhere to look for advise and help and I found the doctors very unhelpful and brushed me off like I just had morning sick ness and I should deal with it.
Should I even be thinking about having another baby?

This is why I need to think more carefully about trying for dc2. Your post has brought it back to me - carrying little bags around to be sick in, oh the joy.

There is a hypermesis support thread somewhere on here which has lots of great advice.

Are you sahm? I like to think it will be easier to have my own loo nearby. Some say it is not as bad the subsequent times but you don't know till you get there, very scary really.
