When should I see the GP?!

Hi All,

So got my BFP at 10 DPO (am
now 12 DPO). As I ovulate early on day 11 of my cycle, it means that AF isn't actually due til next Friday, so I havent actually missed it yet.

Should I wait until I've missed AF to see the GP for my initial appointment, or should I go ahead and book one anyway as by the time I've got one I'll have been pg for a couple of weeks (all being well).

Thanks for any help - you guys are amazing!

I'd leave it a few weeks, I've not seen a doctor with either pregnancy until I was at least 6 weeks.

In many areas you can refer yourself directly to the MW, just ring your surgery and ask for the Midwife's phone number to book a 'booking in' appt.

Taking folic acid? If you see the GP you generally say I'm pregnant. He says ok. See the MW. That's it. A big anticlimax. Unless you have interesting medical problems of course that might warrant an early scan for example.

Call your GP and make an appointment. The GP the fill out a form and then you'll hear nothing for weeks as dickswivellers said it's a huge anticlimax. Then you get a letter from the hospital telling you when the scan is booked for.

There is no rush. As long as there is nothing unusual about your medical history, you are aware of all the standard advice, and taking folic acid then there is nothing to be gained by going to see the GP early. If you can self -refer to a midwife that will save you an appointment. Just go in time so that they can refer you for your 12 week scan.

Congratulations Smile

Thanks everyone, I'm prepared for it to be a little disappointing, I guess in my mind going makes it a bit more "officially". Yes, I know I'm bonkers ;-)
