Hi, I'm 38 weeks pregnant and yesterday started having diarrhoea and again this evening.
My question is, if you had sickness and or diarrhoea how long was it afterwards did you go into labour? And has anyone gone into labour without losing their mucus plug or having a show?

Thankyou

I'm 39+6 and eagerly anticipating the start of ANYTHING! not even had a single Braxton Hicks. Anywhoo to answer your question the mw told me you can go into labour without losing your plug. Or you can lose your plug and not really notice

With my second baby, I had diahorrea and vomiting at the same time after waking up with a contraction and gave birth an hour later.

No idea about mucus plug/show, don;t think so.

I can't remember having a 'clear out' with either of mine particuarly, but I suppose I must have done as I didn't, well, you know Blush With dd I was violently sick throughout labour though. I did see my plug with her, ds was more dribs and drabs shortly before my waters went. I'm 36 weeks today and having the worst tummy cramps :( I really thought this morning that things were happening, but I've managed to walk into town and back with the dc, got home, have a little rest and they've kicked off again so I think I'm actually just feeling a bit poorly. Am planning a (very) early night and keeping my fingers crossed I can hang on in there for at least another week so I get to use the birth unit.

DD and DS1 I was induced and things moved quickly (5hrs 15mins and 1hr 40 mins respectively) so I don't think my body had the time to go through it's normal physiological things such as clearing out. DS2 I went into labour naturally and it began with going to the toilet. A lot! Unfortunately, it was also a very quick labour (once contractions started it was about 1hour 40 mins again!) and the, um, clearing out continued the time I was in hospital right up until he was evicted born - including all over the bed Blush DS2 musta picked up on the vibe as he poo'd inside me too. A whole lotta shit went down! Grin

Hoping to avoid that this time and as it looks like I'll be induced again I'm hoping for a poop free birth!

Oh the night before, labour started at 4:45am the next morning. Grin

I didn't have diahorrea with either of the boys. I didn't have a show with DS1 either so it's possible to go into labour without seeing it.

I had lots of poos (but not diarrhoea urgency or consistency IYSWIM) starting about the time my first contraction started. That had stopped by the time I went into the hospital, when I was 2 - 3 cm dilated.

On the bright side, that meant that there was nothing in there to come out when I was pushing Smile

About an hour or so after getting into the hospital, I started vomiting a lot - about 5 times in 3 hours. Usually with particularly bad contractions.

I think vomiting in labour must be fairly normal, as the midwives weren't at all bothered about it.

I had very loose stools with my second baby and went into labour within the hour... May be you are at the early stages of labour!! Good luck to you ! :)

I seen the plug with DS and not with DD.

I had loose stools a month or so before both so not helpful. They were both born just before 37 weeks.

Id say it may be a sign though if it's a new symptom.
