Fusidic Acid 2% Hydrocortisone 1% Cream. Safe?

30 wks and have just been prescribed this cream for a skin infection/rash on and under my chest. Have tried other NON-steroid creams in the past but they have not been successful in clearing this up.
Has anyone else ever been prescribed this during pregnancy? The GP I saw said it was safe but I'm not entirely convinced, as it does contain steroid hormone. Confused and a bit concerned. Want my skin cleared up before baby arrives as don't want to risk passing anything onto him, and want worry-free skin to skin at birth. :(

I have suffered from eczema all my life. As far as I know, the risk from steriods and cortisone in any circumstances comes from protracted use and/or significant overuse or over application. They can thin the skin and used over many years the body can't 'expel' the active ingredients.
Dermatologists have told me personally that people can be over cautious due to these risks and I have been encouraged to apply them more liberally when my skin was really bad.
So - in reference to use in pregnancy - I have never seen a dermatologist while pregnant so am not conpletely sure what they would say. I have however used small amount of cortisone on my hands/face when I needed about it and not worried about it. My personal view is that this tiny topical application is not risky. You'd have to smoothering your whole body in tonnes for it to be risky. Given that your gp was happy to prescribe them. I would hazard a guess they maybe think the same? Doctors are normally super cautious when prescribing stuff to pregnant women so it would be surprising if they asked you to apply something that wasn't safe. Perhaps other people know more?

ok so the consultant dermatologist (private) let me use that; - you mean don't you? and take steroid tablets in all trimesters of first pregnancy and just in case you think that isn't current enough the GP prescribed it to me this week
(3rd pg) and checked the formulary in front of me.

Yes, I had this for a very itchy inner ear when I was pregnant with my 1st. All was fine.
