Hi There need as much advice as possible very very confused.
Found out i was pregnant and we were very undecided with what to do so went to BPAS for a consultation. at t
he consultation the ultrasound technician basically said that there are twins(2 gestational sacks) where one is that is very clearly with a yolk sack but the other was not clear. the date of this scan was in the 6th week. then the next date i thought i ought to go to the ECU as was having twinges on one side and some brownish discharge. they have said the pregnancy is going well and only saw one sack with a foetal pole. I didn't mention going to the BPAS which i am now wishing i did. so what i am confused about is is it twins or have they missed out one on the ultrasound. also the bpas scan showed up on an external scan whereas with the epu they had to do an internal scan.

HELP!

HI, not sure if this helps, but when I had my scan they initally said it was one baby, as the scan went on they found a very small sack that had stopped growing around 6 weeks. They said that it had been a twin pregnancy but it wasn't any longer, apparently it's a very common thing and is called the vanishing twin, and has become more common to spot as the techology for scans gets better.

Maybe go back to you gp and explain and they can re scan you to get a clearer idea of what's going on.

Hi thanks went back to gp and epu they say they reported what they saw so still no idea. Also am growing large compared to last pregnancy. I have a feeling but just not certain and don't really seem to be getting any help from the people who should be offering it! :(

You will definitly know when you have your 12 week scan I know it sounds like a long time to wait. Unfortunatly some embro's do not continue to grow, but I have also heard that women tend to be bigger with their second baby because the mucsles have already been stretched. Sorrry this probably does not make things any clearer for you. If you do get another utra sound, a trans vaginal untra sound is clearer for them when pregnancy is less than 12 weeks.

Six weeks is very early to be able to tell for sure what is going on - you definitely have one which is growing normally so I would try to think in those terms until and unless you are told otherwise. I agree with the above that you do get bigger second time around (and some people just bloat up more quickly than others anyway) I was in maternity clothes at six weeks and felt like a whale Blush

Internal scans are much clearer than belly scans, almost unbelievably more so - I've unfortunately had both this time round, but every day will make a difference as to how much you will be able to tell from either.
