DC2 when did you pack hospital bag?

I'm now 33 weeks and haven't even thought about packing my bag! Infact we don't really have anything ready. It's all in the roof but wasn't planning to get anything down until DH has a week off when I'm 37 weeks. Saw a friend today, admittedly first baby but her bag is packed, nursery all ready etc.

So when did everyone else pack their bag etc?

Good question. I was thinking the exact same thing. Last time I was packed by 30 weeks (am 29 now) and went in with pre-eclampsia at 34 weeks so worked out well as I had been advised to do it by 36 weeks. But this time I am a bit apathetic and perhaps too laid back to do at the moment. Plus I have a toddler who would quite frankly just unpack it if he got hold of it so I havent bothered although I am thinking about getting some maternity pads this week. I just hope the will to do it kicks in soon otherwise I will be shoving stuff into a Tesco bag at the 11th hour!

I'm 39 weeks with #3 and haven't packed a bag yet. I've got the baby clothes down and washed though, and the crib out, and bought some breast pads, Lansinoh, and weeny little nappies, and stolen a disposable toothbrush from a hotel.

Still need to wash the car seat and buy maternity pads and chuck it all into a bag.

I was an Elcs at 39 weeks but obviously I could have gone into labour before then. We put the cot up the weekend before c day and I packed my bag the night before.

I was planning to pack mine on the day after my growth scan at 36 weeks. Ds2 had other plans, and arrived a few hours after the scan, so no bag, no nappies, no Moses basket (was waiting for a new mattress to be delivered). DH was at the supermarket at 4am.

When I go on mat leave at 36+5. DD was two weeks late so I think I'll have plenty of time. Also, its different this time as we have all of the "big" stuff we need , its just a question of getting it down from the loft, and if its stuff like breast pads, maternity pads, nappies etc then I know what brands worked for us, which local shops sell them & DP has a pretty good idea of what all of the things are so can be despatched to buy them if necessary. For that matter, we'd only just moved to this area last time whereas now I have lots of local friends with young children so, again, they could be sent shopping if need be. Yes, things like the babygros & sheets would need a wash but we have a tumble dryer now so things could be washed & dried in a couple of hours. I think my main concern would be whether I had enough snacks in the house to take with my to hospital!

Good good glad to see I'm not the only one being a little slacker this time around. I think first time it was seen as one of those exciting things but this time its more of a practical thing. I might buy some nappies and breast pads with my next shop and that might kick start it.

I went into labour on due date with ds so in my mind I have until at least then...not even considered baby coming earlier!

DC2 is due end of May... However we're going on holiday to Scotland over Easter and I'm going to take the carseat, hosptial bag and notes with me just in case... And then I won't unpack it again so it'll be done then... so probably earlier than with DC1!!

Chubfuddler · 15/02/2012 17:17

I did carry my notes with me from about 35 weeks just in case.

MadMonkeys · 15/02/2012 17:42

I'll pack mine quite early, maybe 30 weeks or so? DD was born at 38 weeks and I like to be prepared.

Happenstance · 15/02/2012 17:50

28 weeks this time, i like to be prepared, i am also 33 weeks this week, and everything is ready, i just want my baby now.

LittleWhiteWolf · 15/02/2012 17:57

I've ordered a new holdall and some pjs which will apparently arrive at the end of this month, so I'll pack then. Am 34 weeks tomorrow, DC2 due March 29th. Haven't sorted anything really. Well I'm stocking up on nappies and have all the clothes ready. There's a space in the bedroom for the cot to be built. Am defnitely not feeling as eager or excited this time. The spare room is still a total tip, whereas once we'd had the 20 week scan with DD the nursery was decorated and all put together.

Think I'm slightly in denial that there'll actually be a baby here in a few weeks time, despite its constant kicking and squirming around.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 15/02/2012 18:07

I am almost packed, just have toiletries to buy, 37 weeks this Friday. I think I was packed by 36 last times as per instructions, but I packed so much last time, bags and bags! So far I have one bag and will have one more with snacks in. Although, not sure what snacks to take?

arfur · 15/02/2012 18:22

DC1 (dd) was born 10 days late and DC2 (ds) was born 10 days early so I packed my bag for DC2 after my waters had broken and in between throwing up, contractions and telling my MIL to STOP PANICKING! Grin so may be best not to assume anything! It cropped up in conversation with my midwife after the event and she was mortified and said she hadnt even thought to mention bag packing to me, what with it being my 2nd she thought I would have had everything sorted well in advance Blush

WeeLors · 15/02/2012 19:45

I packed mine the day before I went into labour Blush (must of had an inkling). To be fair he was 11 days early but I was still cutting it pretty fine. I had everything in advance though, just hadn't actually put it in a suitcase yet
