Seven BFPs but still have cramps

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can put my mind at rest, or tell me to be worried because I'm not really sure what's normal.

My AF should be any day between today and Thursday. I POAS yesterday (mainly to put myself out of my misery) and was very astonished to see a BFP. I used those cheapo ones from Amazon. I have since done 6 more - yesterday and today - including a digital one that read a very definite Pregnant.

I guess I am just a little worried that I am getting mild cramps. I do feel very dizzy and nauseous and considering the POAS the first few times was the third wee of the day, they came up very strong.

I guess I'm worrying myself that it's come unstuck but hormones are still flying around. I don't think I'll feel truly convinced for a few weeks after AF was due but I guess - is this a normal thing, to feel cramps?

Yes. I had period type pains in the early parts of all of my pregnancies. Nature has a sick sense of humour sometimes Smile

If you do a MN search for 'cramps in early pregnancy' you will find results for lots of other women who have felt the same and gone on to have healthy babies.

Sometimes the cramps can be a sign of miscarriage, but without blood it is likely just cramps of muscles stretching in your womb.

I'm 13 weeks and am having cramps as I'm starting to get a bump (maybe a baby bump or maybe I've eaten too many croissants)

Try to relax and accept that there are pregnancy hormones in your system :) Congrats!!!

yes, it's pretty common.
I had period type pains at the very beginning too, and when my period didn't appear, i got the BFP.

I had this at the beginning too, as well as backache! I felt like my period was due for a good few weeks, I'm not sure how long it took me to stop checking my knickers! :)

Try and relax!

bettybat · 14/02/2012 14:54

Hahaha that's what I'm doing - checking my knickers all the time!

Awww ladies it's so good to have to answer so quickly. I do need to relax but I think because of the circumstances of testing - just very much expecting a negative and so doing it early to put myself out of my misery - I'm not late yet and it's kind of messing with my mind a little.

But you have very much reassured me. Thank you :)

Totally normal to feel as though you are about to get your period. I felt the same for weeks on all 3 pregnancies, in fact on the first one I was convinced I couldnt be pregnant because I was sure what I had were period pains!

Hi Bettybat,

I had terrible cramps in the early weeks, especially at night for about a week. It can be quite nerve wracking but I'm know the proud owner of a 27 week bump!

My midwife said so long as there is no bleeding, then all is usually well.

Congratulations on your many BFPs!

Failsafe · 14/02/2012 15:02

and I forgot to say, that I was the same as Elah11, convinced I couldn't be pregnant due to having really convincing period pains as though I was about to get my period.

PoppyS34 · 14/02/2012 15:18

I didn't used to suffer from period pains much at all, but since my BFP I've had the most awful 'period' pains. Once they were so painful at 3am that I had to get out of bed and walk around trying to get rid of them. Ouch!

That was weeks ago though, and I'm 15+3 now with three good scans, it's such a worrying time, but congrats and I hope everything goes smoothly for you. :)

BettyBat - I think you and I are in the same stage! I tested again this morning as I was woke up 4x last night with crampy period pains. Probably because of the celebratory sex we had last night. lol Little tiny bit of spotting this morning, but I also read that is also very common after sex in this stage. The crampy period pains have been off and on for the last week and a bit, that is why I was sure AF was coming before my BFP. It also seems to get worse when I eat too much or drink a lot. Probaby just different pressure down there than I'm used to. How something the size of a sesame seed that noticible I have no idea! I think we just need to relax - i know easier said than done.

Breasts are not sore at all - should I be worried? (though i have very small breasts so perhaps that has something to do with it)
