My dentist wouldn't xray me while i was pregnant, i ended up losing a tooth after my twins were born but I still think that was a better option than exposing them to any harm.

I would recommend visiting your dentist and asking his/her opinion.

Hey bumper im a dental nurse at the dental hosp in bham... you can get xrays as long as they are not large ones ... amalgam is also fine i have had to have lots of risk assessments and if i can handle it 20 million times a day then im sure you can have a little bit put in a tooth :D hope this helps...
but in all honestly its down to your dentist some will not xray you because of the risk and they will be afraid that you could have a legal case i had an xray and tooth out at 12 weeks and I was advised by a consultant
all the best XX
