Apologies, on bed rest typing with one hand.

Two days ago, I experienced a substantial blood loss and passed a large clot. I am 6 weeks pregnant. We did IVF and put two embryos back. At the scan, they could only see one. The hospital said they didn't know what caused the bleeding, but I have been looking on the Internet and think it was either losing the other twin, or a SCH.

Does anybody have any experiences they could share with me, please?

Thanks.

I had a heamatoma when I was pregnant with my ds2. I started to bleed at 5+4 and after 5mc thought it was over. Few days later I woke up feeling sick n took myself to bathroom and fainted.

Long n short, they did a scan and found his hb Smile I was put on rest. I did bleed on and off until nearly 20 week but was scanned every 2 weeks. He was born at 38 weeks. And is 5 on thurs x

Everything crossed for you Smile

Thank you so much for sharing that! So glad it worked out well for you, and it gives me hope, too. How long we're you on bed rest for after the initial bleed?

No real experience but I've got a haematoma at the moment. Had massive gush of blood at 12 weeks, 2 days after my scan. Went to a&e and they found a heart beat. Had another massive gush of blood and soaked through several pads but then it stopped for about two weeks. Had my nt scan and they found a fairly sizeable haematoma and said they would be surprised if I didn't bleed again. Booked in for another scan this Monday. Been bleeding for the past few days. Went to hospital when it started, they didn't do scan but checked cervix and it's closed. This time it's only been brown when I wipe but still stressing like hell.

Tried and failed to stay away from google. Apparently the vast majority of haematomas either get reabsorbed or pass without any problem. Mine is pretty large though so am stressing about that.

Hope all goes well for you.

My Daughter had a haematoma and a large bleed with clots at 7 weeks, she was advised to carry on as normal, that involved a 5 day trip to NY the day after the bleed, she continued to bleed on and off until 12 weeks, subsequent scans showed the pocket of blood getting smaller, she gave birth to a beautiful little girl at full term, good luck to you :)

Thanks moregranny, that gives us hope.

Good luck to you too, picklesarnie.

They told me to stay on bedrest until bleeding turned mostly brown (old blood) and if it went back to red then take to my bed again :) GL xx

Thanks Julezboo, that's really helpful. I am so scared. This pregnancy is the result of our third (and last) round of IVF.

I had a massive bleed at 9 weeks and passed a huge clot. Had a scan and Pip was still in place. Am 32 weeks tmrw and she's doing a gymnastics routine as I type...

If it was an SCH, then I think they would have been able to see it on the scan. The fact that they didn't see anything, then it may be that it's already passed and you've nothing to worry about? Likewise if it was a twin, at such an early stage then perhaps they wouldnt be able to see any evidence anymore. And, whilst still really sad, shouldn't be of concern for the remaining baby?

Sending you loads of positive vibes!!
