What does everyone do about peanuts?

I am usually indifferent to peanuts, but at the moment I am a total peanutoholic and want them in everything, all the time. I am 30 weeks pregnant.

As far as I remember, the guidelines are a bit confused and are to avoid peanuts if you have a family history of allergies (we don't). But I might be wrong... Do you eat peanuts? Should I try to transfer my addiction to another nut?!

I had a huge craving for peanut butter In both pregnancies. This was 17 and 15years ago before there was any advice about peanuts.
Ds did end up with tree nut, peanut and seed allergies and various non food allergies, dd had no allergies at all.
Ds has outgrown the peanut allergy but not the other ones.
Dh does have a few allergies including Brazil nut, and I have eczema and hayfever

I do have a relative with a serious nut allergy and I have eczema (the eczema/hay fever/asthma trio also seems to run in the family, though luckily I only have one of them) - so I've been avoiding peanuts, but could inadvertently eaten peanut oil without realising, for all I know!

I have been eating all other nuts - cashew nuts are my favourite peanut alternative - but my relative is allergic to ALL nuts, so I don't know whether I should have given up all of them. I love nuts in museli and I have been snacking on hazelnuts to avoid eating crisps and stuff...so I hope it will be OK!

Considering peanuts are legumes, not true nuts, is it just a weird coincidence that you can be allergic to nuts of the type that grow on trees AND peanuts too? Or are the allergies thought to be connected somehow.

I haven't known what to do about this either. I LOVE peanut butter, but DH is allergic to peanuts and is worried it might affect the baby. He's not so allergic that we can't have them in the house! I've been avoiding peanuts, but can't help wondering if this might make the baby more sensitive to them!? Like others, I have read a lot, and got lots of mixed info. I think my GP suggested they were OK. My MW didn't know!!

Another Snickers addict here, Ive avoided very little in my pregnancy to be honest, only alcohol (and thats more because ive gone off the taste) pate and soft cheese (the few they advise avoiding)
