Good pilates DVD for postpartum period, after some SPD and wrecked stomach muscles?

Can anyone recommend a post-pregnancy Pilates DVD, please?

I had to have physio for some SPD/PGP during pregnancy (tummy popped right out, and we moved house!), so I am a weak weeble (although I am still a strong walker) at 8+ weeks postpartum.

My doctor recommended Pilates at the 8 week check, saying it could build core strength and help knit up the big hole in my stomach muscle wall!

Ideally, it should be something my nearly 4yo might enjoy trying, as well! He loves the "yogo" on Waybuloo, and I am desperate to reduce his CBeebies time, so I'd love it if some exercise with me were to fill the gap!

I have a BodyControl Pilates in Pregnancy book by Lynn Robinson - its got an excellent post natal chapter, so maybe see if there's a DVD to accompany? I got a cheapy 10-minute Pilates workouts DVD for pregnancy, but it goes so fast that you can't keep up - and I teach Pilates!! If you can afford it, a one-to-one with a Body Control or APPI instructor could give you lots of stuff to work on at home. If you're really stuck PM me and I'll copy the relevant sections of my book and email them to you. HTH :)

For what it's worth I would really recommend a 1 to 1 with a physio who is pilates trained. Books and DVDs have their place but pilates is so subtle - I did it for a while and I would think I was doing it right, then physio would move a limb an inch and it was a totally different ball game. Good luck!

Thanks very much for the recommendations. I was hoping to avoid having to drag my newborn out to sessions somewhere (I also could only do mornings, as my DS is at preschool!).

I'll have another look locally.

PonyPhysio, that's really kind, but if the book is so excellent, I'm sure Lynn Robinson deserves the royalties from me as I can afford it! Smile
