Hi

I'm pregnant with my 4th child. I have been itchy with my 3rd but he was sadly stillborn at 28weeks (due to a genetic condition). Im now just 11 weeks but my legs and arms are literally bleeding where the scratching is so instense i have itched so much. Also, my back is driving me nuts and i cant itch it properly! its itchy all day but is increasing about this time, ending in mega intense itching at night time!!

Im going to make a Dr app first thing on monday but till then il be worrying y way through the weekend.

I have red that OC can start early, anyone had any experience of this?xx

I am not sure how early in pregnancy it can start, but I think you need to get seen before Monday.

I had OC but it was late in my pregnancy.

There was someone here who posted that it started early with her but its very rare and normally only in the last trimester. Its odd that its your back as OC normally starts on hands and feet.

However you sound worried enough that I think you should ring the hospital or out of hours and ask them their advice. Having had OC I have to say your symptoms are very different from the ones I experienced, but that does not mean you don't have it. Your history is poor so I wouldn't wait until Monday.

Your skin can be really sensitive during pregnancy. Have you changed washing powder or used any bubble baths or anything like that recently as that can sometimes trigger bad reactions.

Hope you can get your mind put at rest.

I would call the maternity unit and ask them what they think, but I had an allergic reaction when I was 5 weeks pregnant and it was like hives all over my arms, body and legs. I was in so much discomfort with the itching and there wasn't really anything anyone could do. I have heard that OC usually starts on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet, although not always. I would ring and ask if you should be worried.

I had a touch of it and it went away... got it really early (first trimester), had test/borderline results etc with some elevated liver salts... normalised by 3rd trimester so no intervention.

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your third child..
