Blood test results. What does MCH mean?

I had my blood tests back and my iron count was 12.1 which a phlebotomist friend says is very low and the thalassaemia text says what looks like 1/mch. I was told I'd be rung with anything that needed treatment but just want to make sure it's ok!

I'm not sure how to interpret your thalassaemia test, but an Hb (haemoglobin) of 12.1 is well within the normal range, it is NOT low. I doubt you have thalassaemia with such a good haemoglobin, but as i said, I'm not sure about the units that it's being measured in.

Exactly what was the test? MCH is probably mcg, micrograms,

Thanks chocolatesparkle. I'm happy to wait when I see midwife next week but husband is getting a bit stressy :)

belgo, the text that had MCH next to it is for thalassaemia.

So you got the results on a text message?
