Hey I am 17 weeks and people keep askin me am I really pregnant??
I think everyone is different on shape and how they carry and if ur small and neat then thats great dont be worrying what others say.

My friend has 5 weeks to go and only for me knowing she is pregnant you wouldnt even know she is. This is her second DC and the baby is bigger than her first so it just shows everyone is different.

i had no bump until 30 weeks

it doesn't matter if you just look a bit bloted to being massive, people will still comment

Hi OP

I'm 31 weeks and my bump only started to show about 4 weeks ago. Since then it seems to be getting bigger and bigger every day!

I think it depends on your body shape to start with and maybe factors such as muscle tone. I did pilates prior to getting pregnant (have moved to yoga now) and have pretty good core muscles so I think the bump was kept at bay due to that!

Don't worry - it will come and when it does you'll know about it!

I'm the same. I do have a bit of a bump and have put on a stone, but people look mildly horrified when I tell them I'm 23 weeks as if I've been starving myself and will have a stunted babyShock
Would like a big ol' bump so people start telling me to 'take it easy' and offer me their seat etc but I don't think it's going to happen!

I'm in exactly the same position. I've gained 12lbs at 24 weeks and I have a really small bump. My family and friends say they can just about tell because they know that I'm pregnant, but strangers wouldn't have a clue. My family keep telling me that I need to gain more weight, but I feel that 12lbs at this stage is quite a lot x

You'll regret feelin this way when you are HUUUUGE and can't sleep on your front- your back- either side-or at all.

I'm 23 weeks and growing wide as opposed to out in front, everyone keeps commenting on my 'neat', 'petite' bump as if it's a compliment, but all it does is worry me. Had a MW appointment today though and she said my uterus is exactly the size it should be, strong hb etc. She said everyone just carries differently!

A friend of mine is 28 weeks and everyone comments on how 'huge' her bump is saying she looks 9 months prg already - this in turn really worries her. I think however we are we will worry!

AlpinePony · 10/02/2012 18:01

I'm 39 weeks, have put on a stone and am still sleeping on my front(ish). It's only been the last 10 days or so I've been showing massively, everyone is different. :)

I'd just go by the midwife appointment measurements - if they measure you and say you're fine then no worries :) I'd rather have a smaller bump to be honest!

The smaller your bump, the less likely you will suffer stretch marks and loose skin, it will also be much easier to get back to a normal shape after birth. My bump exploded from early on and just kept growing, I was so big toward the end that it was hard to balance myself, the last four months have been torture trying to rid my belly.

You won't want a big tummy after the birth so try to keep it as small as possible before it's too late. You may not realise now how much you will care but once the baby's out you will want to look attractive again, when the stomach stretches so much it's very difficult to get those muscles flat.

Im 30 wks and still mostly in my own clothes. Dependant on how the baby is lying, some days I do look pregnant, but most of the time I dont. Im tall, so theres plenty of room for the baby without creating a bump. Ive only gained about 6-7lbs.

Between 22-28 weeks I was really worried, especially as my friend, whos due after me, is massive and I was sick of the comparisons.

Now though, its brilliant, I can still sleep on my front, I dont get breathless - I still do an hour of Zumba most days, Im not constipated/getting haemoroids. Ive no stretchmarks because my skin isnt stretched.

Seriously, if your midwife is happy, you feel generally well and get regular movements, dont be bothered by it. Grin
