Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I've heard this about the correlation, but for some reason I thought that the lower numbers meant it is a boy?? I know I've seen a thread on this before. Congratulations! I do think it's a myth though.

CountessDracula · 17/11/2003 12:24

Twiglett my dd's heartrate was usually around 160 and all the midwives said that meant she was a boy. She wasn't though!

handlemecarefully · 17/11/2003 12:27

Yes I've heard this, but apparently it has no scientific basis behind it! There was a feature on predicting the baby's sex on radio 5 live a week or so ago, and the researcher explained that this was a common belief but sadly has no substance to it!

charlize · 17/11/2003 19:53

yes twigglet, I have heard this as well.
But its usually lower for a boy higher for a girl,

Being really sad, whenever I watch a birthing programme, I try to get a quick look at the monitor to try this theory out.(Yes I do need to get a life)
And I have to say, I usually predict correctly :0
But 142 seems to be middle ground, I wouldn't be sure about that.
If it was 120 or 130 I would say defo a boy. Above 150 defo a girl.

Having said that I was hospitalised at 35 weeks cause babe had a fast heatbeat and he turned out to be a boy:0

Cant get those smilies to work. I'll try again.

charlize · 17/11/2003 19:55

Yippee It worked.

popsycal · 17/11/2003 20:02

i was monitored loads in the last few weeks of preg (pre-eclampsia etc)
and the midwives siad it would be a boy.....it was
i asked why and they said his heart rate!

Eowyn · 17/11/2003 20:21

my midwife said she thought it was a boy due to heartbeat, so naturally "it" was a girl...

fio2 · 17/11/2003 20:44

it's a load of

Candie · 17/11/2003 21:36

I also was told that according to the heartbeat I would have a little girl, so of course out popped a bouncing baby boy.

pupuce · 17/11/2003 21:36

Well in the 18 births that I have attended it has always been right.... 120 is a boy, 160 is a girl.
140 ..... tricky I look if it tends to go higher or lower.
Mears - will probably disprove me

codswallop · 17/11/2003 21:55

I reckon a girl - 3 boys - always low
