advice needed re: scan date

I've just had my 12w scan date. Going by my LMP it's at 11+2 but by the dates I've calculated I'll only be 9+5 which is too early for NT measurement. I'm not sure whether to reschedule the scan a couple of weeks later, or just stick with the date they've given me and then try to get a second scan a few weeks later if necessary.

I'm worried that if I reschedule my dates might be wrong and it'll be too late for NT test, or if I don't rescedule there won't be enough notice to book another scan. WWYD?

Call the ultrasound department, see what they say - I'd imagine they'll say to go in on the date they've given you, and then give you an extra scan later on if your LMP dates are out. They must have to do this fairly frequently so should leave spaces to fit people in at short notice...you'd think?

Good idea Fliss. For some reason I was thinking that if I phoned I'd just be speaking to a receptionist who might not know what would be best to do Blush I've just phoned and they said it's best to stick with the earlier scan and then have another if necessary.

It's a lovely chance to see your baby again. My 12 week scan was at 11+5 according to my LMP which was just within the window for the NT but when I got there the baby was measuring too small at 11 weeks so I got to go back when I was 12+5 and the difference in the size of the baby was incredible. Enjoy the experience!

Go on the date they have given you - your dates will be confirmed then & if you need another one the week after they will give you one.

I second Flisspaps - call them and see what they say.

I'd had an early scan at the EPU, and sort of assumed that they would update my records and give me a new scan date... butwhen they didn't, I went to my appointment anyway, but they could see from their records it was too early and they wouldn't do my bloods. They booked me in again for a couple of weeks later though.

It is different in your case of course, because they don't have any "evidence" to contradict your LMP dates - they will probably say come in anyway, then arrange another scan if it is too soon, but better to ask them in any case, I think?

I agree with stick with the dates you have been given and if it does turn out to be too early, they'll still have until 13+6 to get a rescan in within the timeframe for the NT test.

Thanks for the replies. I'll stick with the original date and can have another scan if necessary. It will be nice to get an extra glimpse and it means I get a scan sooner rather than later :)
