pixiepud · 05/02/2012 22:14

i read years ago, chocolate in pregnancy gave you a happy baby.... :D was the best news i'd read in a long time lol

Do you mrs the caffeine content? Can't remember off the top of my head, and am in bed but am pretty sure it's in the purple book, the NHS one.

Just wondered if eating certain amounts effected how energetic your
Baby would be? Lol sounds very silly I know. to think of it I don't have that much,
Just this DC seems a little more active than DD1 at this stage... Maybe because
Its been stretched before and has lots of bouncy room??

You're allowed 200mg of caffeine a day which I think is about 4/5 normal sized bars of milk chocolate.

I have an extremely sweet tooth at the moment, and I've been eating white chocolate because that doesn't contain any caffeine :)

Probably not helping the waistline though! x

Any amount that would be bad for the baby would be well beyond what would be a reasonable amount to eat if you weren't pregnant I'd imagine. If you are eating ordinary milk chocolate then you don't need to worry too much about the caffeine content (unless you are eating 6 bars a day along with a double espresso). If you are eating 6 bars a day then the sugar content would become a worry eventually.

A "normal" amount of chocolate is fine. For example, I had half a terrys chocolate orange earlier and I'm not worried about that in the slightest.

When I was preggo I stopped drinking tea/coffe/coke so I could eat chocolate worry free. You can have 200mg of caffeine a day and chocolate contains 5-10 mg an oz so you can have a fair bit.

This link might help (can you tell I like my chocolate?)

Yeah I just have a bar or so after dinner, and if i feel peckish i feel the need for sweet stuff at the minute, I have gone off tea, coffee again this pregnancy. I have the odd cup sometimes. but probably once or twice a week! so I'm feeling less guilty about the chocolate now. but will try not to give in to temptation as i done want it wreaking havoc on my skin!

As other have said, as long as you're not eating ridiculous amounts like 10 bars a day, then relax and enjoy. I had an Orange Chunky KitKat for my tea break this morning, and a Mars Bar in the afternoon. Yummers! :)
