Why is it this low down?

I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my first baby and think I can now feel kicks - it feels like little muscle spasms, like a twitchy eye, if you've ever had that.
But the movements are always very low down - right in my pelvis. This seems odd given the ginormous size of my belly - I thought the uterus was expanding upwards now, so I'd have expected to feel the movements a bit higher, at least sometimes. Is it normal to feel them so low down?

probably just the position of the baby, he is kicking with his feet?

Shouldn't I feel him punching sometimes too? Is it just that there is more stuff in the way at the top of my torso so I feel him punching less and kicking more?

minitoot i'm 20 weeks and have also been experiencing the 'twitchy eye' feeling in my belly. Although I have felt it in various places more often than not it feels quite low down. Guess as nailak says it just the position of the baby.

Mini am 21 weeks with first DC also, and get exactly the same as you. Doesn't feel much different than period pains, which is weird! Baby was upside down at scan last week so doesn't make sense, but as it seemed to be healthy decided not to fret too much. Am waiting for the kicks and punches further up, but some people say they never feel that much, so am thinking this one might be the same.

I get kicks in down low and feel it in my bum cheeks sometimes feels very weird

At 20 ish weeks the top of your uterus is only just level with your belly button so suppose thats why it feels so low down. At 34 weeks I still feel alot of movement very low down.

I am 27wks with DC4 and have noticed more movement lower down than I remember from before - on a bad lively day I wonder if baby is trying to karate kick a way out!

Still can't tell kicks from punches though Hmm but will miss the feeling when its born
