One day overdue from last period I took a test (first response). It was so faintly positive that I did another 4 tests by different manufacturers over the next 4 days. All were the same, so faint that I was totally confused. I went to the clinic for a test a week after period was due and they said its negative. After 10 mins the faint line reappeared. The next night I did a clear-blue digital and it said 'not-pregnant-. So shocked after 6 faint positives. Decided to try 1st urine sample of day yesterday Sat (9 days late) with clearblue digital again) and said 'Pregnant 1-2 weeks'. This is just not possible as Drs count this as just conceived and ovulation was over 3 1/2 weeks ago. The last test I took last night was the faintest yet and as I would glance at it, I would call it negative as a reasonable person. Can anyone shed any light on this as the hCG levels in the preg test have failed to rise 10 days post expected period date and I am wondering if this could be an imminent miscarriage or ectopic. I am 40 and just so worried about what's going on. Feel so pregnant.

well, 10 mins after taking the test would be an evaporation line.
BUT
depending on how much you have drunk prior to taking the test and lots of oral fluids can dilute the result.

I wouldthink that a pink line is a pink line and is a positive result.

You say HCG ..have you had bloods taken then?

I would say pregnant. The cheapy strips are said to be more responsive than clearblue digital and Dr's tests crap.

I think get a blood test too - or early scan. I have had similar situations twice, one, unfortunately was a chemical pg/early mc and one is my 7y old - I think it could yet go either way. I owuld try and get a blood test and early scan done to try and shed some light if, like me, you are not patient enough to just wait it out (so hard I know).

I completely abandoned the digital tests btw - even when I was established pg they still came up negative! I believe they are less sensitive.

this website gives you the sensitivities of all the different tests www.peeonastick.com/hpts.html - I used to be obsessed with it! Maybe get some of the more sensitive ones and if they how up positive I'd say it is looking good.

I've just been through something similar. Did 2 very early tests (before period due) and got very faint positives. Did 3rd and it was faint positive but the line disappeared after 1/2 hour. Did another on day period was due and it was negative. Waited 2 days, did another which was negative. Period arrived today. I'm assuming it was a chemical pregnancy because I felt pregnant - had bad nausea. I'm so sad because I got so excited at the positives. I'm definitely not going to test early again!!
