How far pregnant are you? It shouldn't last all the way through, its common for the sickness to disappear by 12 weeks (thats not always the case though)

muma3 · 22/01/2006 20:06

i had sickness all day every day for 6 months but the end result ( 3 times over ) is sooo worth it i would do it again
good luck and it will pass oon , keep thinking about the baby that will be the result and that to be sick means you have strong hormones that are keeping your pregnancy going .
its all worth it
try not to let your stomach get empty even if you are sick straight after eating and sip water reguarly so you dont get dehydrated
good luck xx

allyco · 22/01/2006 20:06

oh kid - I wish. I'm 29 weeks.

I hope you're not newly pg and have read that else it'll scare the life out of you!

allyco · 22/01/2006 20:09

thanks muma3.

Have tried everything it seems. Usually I get so bad I end up in hospital for fluids which helps for a few days but then it just comes back. Guess am just having a whinge because I can't in RL as I keep a very stiff upper lip. Stupid aren't I.

nothing stupid about you honey. My last pregnancy I was sick from day one until the day the DTs were born. I was exhausted from all the sickness and I had 3 older children to cope with as well.

Stiff upper lip be damned!!!!!!!!!!

kid · 22/01/2006 20:12

Ok, you are past the 12 weeks then and are one of the unlucky ones that have sickness throughout.
I'm not newly pregnant no, I have a DD who is 7 and a DS who is 3, I wasn't sick once during my pregnancies.
At least you have coped for more than half of the pregnancy so far, jsut another 11 weeks or so to go, hope it gets easier for you. BTW, do you know the sex of your baby?

allyco · 22/01/2006 20:15

God Mars this is only one baby if I had been having twins I think I might have died by now !! (only half joking). I've also got three others (well, four if you count the one at university but I don't )

I don't complain at work because my boss is a twat. I try hard not to complain at home because I don't want the kids growing up thinking pregnancy is an illness.

Just before Xmas my BP ws so low it was hardly registering, there were more ketones than wee in my wee and when I got to hospital they could barely get a line in because all my veins had collapsed.

Now I sound like MNs biggest whinger!!

kid - I know some women who were ever sick at all too. Do you know, if I wasn't sick I would think there was something wrong!!!!!!!!!

Do you think the sex of the baby makes a difference to the sickness thing?

MarsOnLife · 22/01/2006 20:20

Nope! Not a jot.

I'm so glad that I've no intention of going there again.

Thinking of you, hope it passes!

allyco · 22/01/2006 20:22

I have a friend who puked all the way through her 3 pregnancies every day. She felt like crap of course... anyway, I know that during her 2nd pregnancy, she tried some homeopathy WHICH WORKED (!!!), which is why I think she thought she would go for #3. Unfortunately for her, the homeopathy DIDN'T work for pg #3.... might be worth a try? I'm also a big fan of acupuncture, that might also be worth a try? Good luck

I feel for you!

I'm only 10+4 but I've been puking since Christmas Day. I can't eat to begin with, I just feel full, so the tiny food or drink I've managed comes up. I don't fancy anything healthy, only high calorie stuff, however it all comes up.

I've started getting migraines too, that last all day. But as the codeine isn't working not a lot to be done about that either!

When the doctor today told me there was nothing she could do, I burst into tears, and she then gave me some pills.. apparently the only anti sickness ones you can take. Oh and then she made the helpful comment 'I'd eat or drink more, else you'll end up in hopsital on a drip'.

Haven't taken them yet (even folic acid makes me sick) but will tonight to see if I can get some dinner down.

I can't believe how sick I've been, and I will cry if it lasts for the next 6 months. I've already lost around 8lb.

allycoo - what on earth are you doing still working? I've spent most of this pregnancy (nearly 28 weeks) on the sick (unpaid unfortunately) due to hg and fully understand how awful you feel. My sickness has got better since I stopped work, tiredness is the worse thing and when your body is struggling to keep going it will be more sick.

Can't help you with any treatments as nothing is working for me, just rest and relax a lot and keep a stash or rich tea biscuits so you can pre-empt the puking by stuffing one in! Do Seriously consider reducing your hours, or go on the sick if you will get paid or can afford to. Any doctor will certainly be concerned you are working while you are so ill. How are your iron levels? My hg has been so bad this time that my ferritin went down to 5!. I've spent 2 weeks in and out of hospital on iron infusion drips and its now 164 which is brilliant. hg can be made worse by obstetric diabetes and thyroid problems so its definitely worth getting the doc to do some blood tests to rule all that out.

As for the sex, I had hg last pregnancy and had a girl, I've got it this pregnancy and am having a boy - so no clues there sorry!
