bleeding at 6wks....help

Hi ladies, I'm expecting my 3rd baby, I'm now 6wks pregnant, since yesterday ve had a little discomfort down below, this got worse through today and so I went to the clinic where I was told that I have a urine infection. They asked me if I'd had any bleeding or spotting and I said no. I got home and I was bleeding, not a lot but enough to make me worry. Its continued throughout the evening but very lightly. I'm having no discomfort now and I'm ot in any pain. Am I having a miscarriage? I'm so scared that I don't know what to think. I've not got my first antenatal appointment in 2 weeks time. My mother in-law telling me to just leave it be and go doctors on monday. I had an extreamly heavy bleed (thought it was my waters breaking) at 33wks with my last pregnancy and then I had no pain at all. The pregnancy carried on till 35 weeks whre I had my little boy 5wks early. He was fine. Please any advice or thoughts will help.

Hello. Please try not to panic. Whatever will be, will be. Bleeding does not necessarily mean you are miscarrying. I had three bleeds at 6, 9 and 11 weeks and my twins are 21 weeks old today. It's scary when it happens though and you can't help but think the worst. Wishing you all the best.

If you go to A&E you should be able to get a referral to the early pregnancy unit at your hospital but they probably wouldn't be open until Monday and my feeling is they may make you wait a week for a scan anyway. When I had my 6 week bleed I had to wait until 7 weeks.

Thanks, I'm going to go on monday if the bleeding stops over the weekend, if it carrys on I can only assume things havnt worked out. Thankyou for your comment though. Made me feel lots beta :)

When you went to the clinic, did they do a speculum exam? (as in, like when you have a smear test?). If so, and the bleeding isn't that heavy, it could be that your cervix is bleeding a bit after the test, and therefore isn't anything to worry about.

If they didn't do a speculum exam, though, you should get a scan to make sure it's not an ectopic, as they can cause bleeding between about 5-10 weeks. The easiest way to do that is probably to go to A&E as then you will most likely get a scan on Monday, whereas if you wait to see your GP or something on Monday then they would have to refer you and you might not get the scan until later in the week.

Are you still bleeding today? I lost about an eggcup of blood at 17wks and was petrified. Midwives and Drs said that it is more to worry about if blood is bright red (mine was) and associated with pain (wasn't). Luckily the red blood stopped after two days and brown blood (old blood) after about five. They couldn't give me a reason but it could have been a cervical ectropion (apparently you can get scabby bits blood vessels on your cervix that will bleed spontaneously, especially if you have been, em, entertaining, but also bleed for no reason whatsoever. Nice) or due to low placenta.

I'm 21wks now and it all looks ok. If you are having any pain or still bleeding I would recommend going to A and E and asking for a scan/cervical examination to see if it's still closed. If no pain and just a little blood make an appt first thing monday.

Hiya, I stopped bleeding last night, but did some mopping this morning and started again, its bright red and then trails off into brown etc, no pain wotsoever, I bled heavy at 33wks (thought my waters had gone it was that bad) with my last and was diagnosed with a subchronic heamatoma or SCH for short (pocket of blood between wall of womb and placenta) got to 35 weeks and went into premature labour. Baby was fine. Basically they say with SCH you tend to bleed in the early stages of pregnancy. I'm just at a loss as to what is going on because I just don't have any pain or discomfort and I'm not bleeding heavy or loosing clots., I havnt got my first antenatal till the 20th of this month. I'm definately going to go hospital monday as going over weekend is pointless as there's never anyone there to scan you. X

No I didn't have an internal because they said my urine test strip lit up like a christmas tree so I had a water infection, the only thing I didn't have in my urine was blood. Went the clinic because of sharp pains in the never regions and it hurt so bad to go for a pee. They did ask if I'd been spotting or bleeding but I said no as I hadn't I then get home and I was. I've heard that urine infections can cause miscarriage??? Anybody know if this is true? I feel so silly as this been my 3rd and I'm going on like its my first. They say no 2 pregnancys are the same!!!
