Hi All,

Whats the difference between normal tens machines and maternity ones? Are the maternity ones just for use during labour or can you use them all through for back pain?

Thanks!

I asked the midwife this & was told the non maternity ones were stronger & shouldn't be used in pregnancy.

the maternity ones have a boost button for when you have a contraction. My midwife said only by a maternity one as the boost is what helps in labour but you can use them after without the boost for back pain

The boost button on the maternity ones are much stronger than you get on a non-maternity one plus the electrode pads are larger. A normal TENS machine would not be enough in labour.
