Is it remotely possible to hear the heartbeat before 12 weeks?

The Midwife has been to see me today and found a heartbeat.

I was told it wasn't possible before 14 weeks or at the very very least 12 but I am only 10+4 (or so I think)

Has anyone else heard it this early?

My midwife would'nt look for a heart beat before 14 weeks, so i hav'nt herard it this early but i think a few people on here have there own dopplers and have picked the heart beat up this early.

It's made me very curious as she felt my stomach and then made the decision to find it, struggled and felt my stomach again and then said that she should be able to hear it so she had another go and got it straight away.

Nbq - it's actually very difficult to find it befroe 12 weeks, but it is possible at 10 weeks.
Usually the MW won't try before 12 weeks because if they tried and couldn't find it you would be very disappointed.

I know this because my MW is my best friend!!

Not only am I curious but totally amazed!

Can't believe it when it's so small.

IIRR there isn't a 'heartbeat' as such early on, but there is an electrical type impulse which will become the heartbeat once the feotus has developed enough.
