Worried about my health during conception

Hello,

I'm worried that I may have conceived (very late on my period) for the first time which is exciting for me and my husband but I am worried that my health hasn't been great over the last few weeks.

Throughout December I had a chest infection and in January I am still rattling with a cough and on an inhaler. The doctor has assured me that inhaler won't affect a pregnancy.

While there have been no crazy nights of drinking, I haven't stopped consuming alcohol and neither has my husband.

I am just disappointed that perhaps we could have been healthier during this pretty essential time and I wondered if anyone else had felt similar and had some words of reassurance? I'm not able to talk this through with my mum!

Thanks,
L

Personally I think you're worrying over nothing.... How many people must conceive after having been poorly with something the month before? And if you haven't been caning the alcohol, then there's nothing to worry about. Just perhaps don't have any more now you know....until after the first trimester at least? And take your pregnancy vits.x

think of all the people who conceive in Xmas/New year week! After gorging themselves on sweets and chocolates and booze! You are entirely worrying about nothing. You say yourself you haven't been having crazy nights of drinking. In the first week after conception the embryo is not even implanted into your body yet so is not getting anything at all from your blood. It will all be absolutely fine!

You are worrying over nothing. A huge number of people conceive when they have been drinking, or drink and take medication when they don't know they are pregnant.

Thank you so much everyone, you've all made me feel lots better. It really helped sharing this so really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I will keep taking the vitamins.

Thanks again x
