Hi Ladies,
Its my first child so its all new to me. I am planning on bottle feeding and I have been told by my midwife to take my own milk to the hospital to feed baby after she is born. I have heard from other mother's that the hospital supply it. Any one shed any light on this?

It will depend on the hospital you're booked at. Your midwife should know whether they provide it or not. It's possible that their policy has changed since your friends had their babies.

It depends, it's probably best to take your own because even if the hospital do provide it you may end up asking the one midwife who thinks it's poison.

You can get packs with 10 mini bottles and 10 sealed sterile NUK teats to take in. Mothercare and Sainsburys sell them.

The hospital I gave birth in had a small emergency supply of milk, but if you were planning on bottle feeding you were told to bring in your own and all your own bottles too. They were not terribly supportive of bottle feeding.

If your midwife told you to - then you will need it.

You will probably just need the milk - but again, ask your midwife. You can buy pre-sterilised bottles, but most places supply those.

Hi, I too am planning on bottle feeding (if midwives don't burn me at the stake 1st!!) & got my ready made bottles (SMA Gold) from Boots.. they do work out expensive £17.00 for 12 but I weighed up the convienience of sterilised bottles being brought & cartons of formula & see the pre-made disposable bottles as the easier option.

Hospitals have an emergency supply for people really struggling to breast feed i think but if you are going in and plan to bottle feed they will not supply it, you will have to take in cartons, i breast fed but struggled at first i am glad i took a carton just in case, they did supply a disposable bottle though. i am also taking a just in case carton this time.
